Children?s Cove is a department of Barnstable County which provides the multi-disciplinary response to child sexual abuse, severe physical abuse, witness to domestic violence and commercial sexual exploitation of children. The Children?s Cove Mental Health Coordinator role is to provide on-site evidence-based treatment to children ages 4-17 experiencing trauma. The Mental Health Coordinate also provides psycho-educational services to families on a variety of topics to include impact of trauma on both children and adults, possible behavioral impacts, human trafficking, problematic sexualized behavior (PSB), sexual abuse, witness to domestic and physical violence. Duties include child victim assessment, early-stage diagnosis, and development of individual treatment consistent with professional standards. Is responsible for active participation on multidisciplinary teams, high quality written and verbal reporting, and providing factual and expert witness testimony for the judicial system as needed. The Mental Health Coordinator will also facilitate any clinical and psychoeducational support groups lead by Children?s Cove, develop other clinical partnerships with community agencies and be the lead for any mental health capacity building projects and initiatives.
