THE ROLE

We are seeking a dynamic leader to drive the strategy, planning, and execution of cutting-edge pharmacy specialty services as our Executive Director of Pharmacy-Specialty. Under the guidance of the system CPO/SVP Pharmacy, you will position Credena Specialty Pharmacy as a market leader, developing a comprehensive program that integrates all stakeholders, from pharmacy business units to hospital leadership. Under the leadership of the system CPO/SVP Pharmacy, the ED Pharmacy-Specialty provides oversight and leads the strategy, planning, and execution of cutting-edge pharmacy specialty services that position Credena Specialty Pharmacy as a market leader in the competitive specialty marketplace. Responsible for developing and implementing a Providence systemwide comprehensive specialty program that integrates all stakeholders (various pharmacy business units, site of care strategy, payor access/contacting, providers, hospital leadership). Drive the development of innovative initiatives and partnerships that enhance our value proposition to boost profitability. Provides integrated support across stakeholders (providers, clinical staff, hospital administration, pharmacy, vendors) and throughout the specialty pharmacy program continuum of care. Responsible for ensuring that the Specialty pharmacy is delivering exceptional care to all of their patients. Also responsible for proactively identifying growth opportunities for the specialty pharmacy program and building cost-benefit analysis to determine initial viability. Additionally, provide consultative expertise to internal teams and external partners, including payers (health plans), employers, and health system clients, fostering collaboration and driving transformative solutions. The ED will work closely with Credena specialty leadership (direct reports) to support them in their daily operations and will be responsible for the overall financial performance of Credena specialty pharmacy. This individual will be responsible for coordinating with pharmacies, administrative, and clinical leadership to develop, implement, and monitor performance on growth initiatives while maintaining excellent patient and clinician satisfaction scores.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provide overall oversight of Credena specialty pharmacy including leadership teams ensuring accountability for P&L and operational performance including ensuring best-in-class patient care is delivered to all patients utilizing Credena specialty pharmacy.
  • Responsible for developing a comprehensive systemwide specialty strategy to optimize and grow specialty business. Identify strategic growth initiatives and drive their implementation by conducting opportunity analyses, pitching robust analyses and building compelling materials to pitch to health system executives, and developing resourcing plans. Strategically drive business growth by identifying new opportunities and responding to market trends to grow Credena specialty pharmacy services.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert and advisor to hospital partner executive teams on the continued growth of the specialty pharmacy program and take responsibility for all performance measures including KPIs, total revenue, growth, partnerships, patient enrollment, margin, and budget management.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the health system environment and establish relationships with executive and staff levels to overcome roadblocks and ensure program success. This includes identifying and implementing operational efficiencies and standardization, providing systemwide feedback and solutions for improved efficiency.
  • Collaborate closely with internal cross-functional teams to ensure integration, collaboration and drive results. Foster and sustain strong partnerships with pharmaceutical manufacturers, ensuring collaboration for the timely delivery and availability of specialty medications.
  • Understand and communicate specialty market trends, changes, and competitive landscape, including local payor markets and drug access. Identify and lead internal and external key partnerships and engagements to further optimize specialty pharmacy.
  • Ensure adherence to all regulatory and industry standards, maintaining compliance throughout all operations.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by CPO/SVP Pharmacy.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree - Graduated from an accredited college of pharmacy
  • PharmD – Pharmacy; or equivalent education/experience
  • Master's Degree in Business or related healthcare field
  • Upon Hire: Pharmacist license in the state of practice
  • 12 or more years of in-depth work experience in specialty pharmacy oversight, strategy development and growth of specialty pharmacy
  • More than 10 years of experience in a leadership role
  • More than 10 years of experience in successfully leading large, diverse, and remote teams across multiple sites, demonstrating a deep understanding of the health system domain is required
  • Understanding of how the health care delivery system works in terms of the relationship among patients, physicians, hospitals, community agencies and third-party payors, as well as an understanding of the impact of the changing and competitive market is required
  • Able to work closely with an established team of professionals. An ability to quickly establish rapport, gain respect and to lead is essential
  • Executive presence and management skills necessary to provide leadership, achieve desired goals and interact effectively with company boards, the management of affiliated hospitals and health care and business community, and representatives of local state and national bodies
  • Effective interpersonal, decision-making, written and verbal communication skills
  • Assertiveness in the presentation and selling of ideas, balanced by sensitivity to the views of various interest groups
  • An innovative, entrepreneurial, high-energy, market-driven executive with proven skills in developing and implementing new concepts and programs, evidence of the ability to provide direction in a rapidly changing and highly competitive environment
  • Position requires limited travel.
