In the primary scope of this role you and your team will own new frameworks for building visual apps for Amazon devices. These critical frameworks will make it faster and easier than ever for application developers to write software for our devices. One of the important aspects of the role is to develop the best, and you’ll have opportunities to build a team and mentor others by sharing your knowledge across multiple teams as we build a truly unique UI app development experience.About the teamOur team exists to enable application teams to swiftly create delightful, performant, and interactive UI experiences that span across Amazon and our external partner devices. We are responsible for delivering UI frameworks and foundational pieces that are critical for UI application development and we do so by showing the utmost customer obsession. As a part of the Device OS organization, you’ll get to interact and work with multiple teams to develop an ecosystem end to end covering product conception to shipping on the vast number of Amazon devices in the field.Basic Qualifications3+ years of engineering team management experience7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experienceKnowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operationsExperience partnering with product or program management teams5+ years of experience with at least one programming language such as C++, Python or Java.Strong business writing, verbal communication, and cross discipline collaboration skills.Preferred QualificationsExperience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategyExperience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineersAmazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market.
