ARL’s purpose is to research and develop innovative solutions to challenging scientific, engineering, and technology problems in support of the Navy, the Department of Defense (DoD), and the Intel Community (IC). The mission of ESD is to develop and maintain expertise in the research, development, assembly, integration, and delivery of specialty electronic systems for undersea applications. These positions may be filled as either a Research and Development Engineer or a non-tenure Research Faculty.ARL is an authorized DoD SkillBridge partner and welcomes all transitioning military members to apply.You will:Design custom circuit boards and power electronics to support system functionsDevelop software/firmware that is tightly interfaced to hardware in an embedded systemDebug and test hardware, software, and firmware using unit integration and hardware-in-the-loop system testsContribute to documents, designs, and specificationsProactively seek professional development opportunitiesPresent to peers, management, sponsors, and stakeholdersSupport other members of the teamAdditional responsibilities for higher-level positions include:Supervise the work of lower level staff and undergraduate studentsPerform tasks of a larger scope and lead specific tasks within the project scopeOversee the development of documents, designs, and specificationsManage tasks of small or moderate sizeContribute to proposals, reports, and presentationsThis position can be filled at multiple levels depending on your education and experience. Minimal requirements include a Bachelor's degree or higher in an Engineering or Science discipline.
