Job Requirements / Description

Flare Therapeutics is a biotechnology company pioneering a new therapeutic space with a novel approach to decipher the biology of transcription factors to develop small molecule medicines. Based on insights from the seminal work of its scientific founders, Flare’s team has uncovered ‘switch sites,’ druggable regions that are key targets for transcription factor regulation, to address mutations that cause disease. Flare’s drug discovery efforts to target switch sites has rapidly advanced, resulting in an emerging pipeline of research programs that address well-validated genetically-defined transcription factors, initially focused on precision oncology with future potential in neurology, rare genetic disorders, immunology and inflammation.

We are a collective of brilliant fires, trailblazing a path to conquer transcription factors and create cutting-edge medicines for patients. We embrace diversity in all its forms, experiences, and viewpoints. We are inspired by the unknown and willing to take risks. We are passionate about the science we pursue and compassionate about the patients it stands to benefit. And we respect, value, and believe in each other.

In this role you will…
  • Execute experiments to inform target engagement on transcription factors using a variety of approaches which include tissue cell culture, automated workflows and characterization using mass-spectrometry based proteomics.
  • Execute high-throughput global proteomics characterization of transcription factors using isotope labeling, TMT, alternative proteases, targeted proteomics (PRM or equivalent) and data-independent acquisition (DIA) workflows.
  • Generate data in a timely manner; support lead discovery initiatives and regularly contribute at the bench.
  • Work closely with senior staff to set experimental strategy, project goals, and timelines to drive projects toward successful completion.
  • Work closely with biology, biochemistry, chemistry and compound management teams in early discovery to optimize screening on high-value transcription factors.
About you…
  • You have a B.S or M.S in chemical biology, biochemistry or analytical chemistry.
  • You have 1-3 years of experience in industry.
  • You have knowledge of proteomics principles and hands-on experience in mass spectrometry-based quantitative proteomics that includes DDA, DIA and/or LFQ.
  • You may have experience in targeted proteomics and TMT-based workflows.
  • You may also have understanding of proteomics sample preparations using both 96- and 384-well plate formats.
  • You may have prior experience with assay development, sample prep automation, HPLC fractionation.
  • You have a desire to work in a lab-based role within a highly adaptive, fast-paced collaborative environment and can creatively solve problems through innovation and communication.
  • You have self-motivation, great decision making, organizational, analytical, interpersonal and communication skills.
