Summary:

This position will oversee projects related to the development and operations of multiple new ACS verification programs including but not limited to the Quality Verification Program (QVP), Vascular Verification Program (Vascular-VP), and Emergency General Surgery Verification Program (EGS-VP). This position works within the Accreditation and Verification Program (AVP) development team and alongside partner organizations, government agencies, surgeon volunteers, other accreditation/verification program managers, and support staff to meet goals and objectives for new accreditation/verification program development and operations. Projects are related to a broad range of activities including committee management, standards development, verification processes, program operations, reviewer onboarding and training, and education. This position will be responsible for ensuring that all established timelines and milestones are met and communicated appropriately.

This exempt position will report to the Senior Manager, Accreditation and Verification Program Development in the Division of Research and Optimal Patient Care. It is based in our Chicago office and is a hybrid role: 3 days per week in the office/2 days per week remote.

Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Project management of various verification program development and alignment projects involving coordination of multiple staff and multiple departments. Projects include the standards development process, verification process development, and program operations development to simultaneously launch multiple new quality programs. When appropriate, produces the work product necessary to move projects to the next level.
  2. Expected to serve as main program contact and provide guidance to external program participants and surgeon volunteers and will be expected to be well-versed in program standards and operations. This individual will be responsible for the development of certain explanatory materials, maintaining program website and educational materials, and other communications.
  3. Participates in the full life cycle of project development as part of the AVP development team including following program launch. Consults and collaborates with committees, leadership from other medical societies, government agencies, and hospital networks to create successful partnerships with the ACS and guide quality program development to align with ACS objectives.
  4. Other duties as assigned.

Required Education and/or Experience:

  1. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required; Master’s degree preferred.
  2. At least 4+ years of general project management experience with documented accomplishments and increasing levels of responsibility strongly preferred.
  3. Must have strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent organizational skills, be self-driven to continuously pursue improvement, and comfortable working in a highly collaborative, rapid change environment.
  4. No direct patient care experience required, but must be familiar with clinical terminology, healthcare environments, and process improvement concepts. Must have some experience working in healthcare or healthcare-related field.
  5. Must be proficient in all Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, Sharepoint, Outlook, and Teams and either familiar or able to quickly learn new data platforms/applications including Aptify, REDCap, Box.com, etc.
  6. Experience in standards development, healthcare measures development, public speaking, data analysis, educational content development, and previous work experience in a hospital setting are preferred.

Physical/Work Environment: Fast paced with significant people interaction. No lifting over 20 pounds, minimal reaching, bending and stooping. Performs work in a normal office environment with long hours in front of the computer.

Other Necessary Requirements: Occasional evening or weekend duties may be required. Minimal travel (2-4 times per year) to represent program at conferences and meetings.
