Job Description
Job Overview
The Material Handler / Industrial Truck Operator (ITO) is responsible for the timely delivery and pick-up of material to the production areas to meet scheduling and production needs. This person is responsible for safe operation of all mobile equipment, organization of raw, WIP, and finished goods materials, and proper data entry into the inventory management system.
2. Job Dimensions
  • This position supports all production operations to optimize output and minimize waste, while maintaining excellent quality and safety standards

3. Principal Accountabilities
  • Employs safe forklift operation and maneuvering skills to move materials.
  • Completes and properly files neat and accurate paperwork to maintain traceability.
  • Completes housekeeping, tow motor and hoist inspections.
  • Package and wrap Finished Goods to specific Customer requirements
  • Issue and receive raw and sub-assembly material to production floor
  • Provide rollstock and pallets to production floor
  • Assemble, monitor, and weigh production generated scrap gaylords
  • Maintains movement of Work in Process off machines, and pallet IDs as needed.
  • Maintains clean and safe work area.
  • Understands, adheres to, and reinforces EHS policies and directives.
  • Remains alert and responsive to equipment and product problems.
  • Anticipates and reacts productively to changes and handles other tasks as assigned.
  • Seeks and implements improvement activities through teamwork and the CI process.
  • Demonstrates willingness to perform multiple functions within a shift, as production requires.
  • Completes the proper system transactions and distributes appropriate paperwork.
  • Keeps equipment stocked with appropriate material and returns materials to the warehouse.
  • Other duties as assigned.

6. Qualifications/Requirements
6.1 Formal Qualifications and Experience
Knowledge and Experience
  • 2 + years forklift experience
  • Computer and Software knowledge
  • Experience working in a warehouse / manufacturing environment
Education and Certifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Fork Lift Operator Certification preferred
6.2 Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Behaviours
Job Specific skills and abilities
  • Ability to operate heavy moving machinery safely and efficiently
  • Ability to sit and stand for up to 12 hours per shift
  • Ability to twist, turn or bend to move material up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to push, pull, and lift material up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize work load appropriately
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Good computer skills / Microsoft Office programs
  • Ability to work well with others / self-motivated
