Position Summary
This position involves providing clinical nursing support to a medical group by communicating clinical information to patients and businesses, scheduling tests and consultations, obtaining clinical specimens, assessing patients, performing clinical office procedures, and maintaining adequate clinical supplies.
Position Requirements
- Education/Training: Medical Assistant certificate and/or higher degree
- Workplace Experience: One year of experience in medical office environment
- Equipment and Skills Training: Competency in using medical equipment and various oral and injectable medications
- Physical Environment: Office environment
- Physical Effort: Must be able to sit, stand, communicate in English, both orally and in writing, and lift over 20 pounds
Performance Standards
- Accurately record patient's medical history and vital signs
- Administer immunizations and injections as appropriate
- Counsel patients on health-related issues
- Order and maintain clinical supplies and pharmaceuticals
- Coordinate referrals to other medical services
- Secure consultations and specialists
- Triage phone calls and address patient portal messages
- Obtain prior authorization for medications and diagnostic testing
- Assist physician with medical/surgical procedures
- Observe universal precautions
- Maintain quality assurance for office lab
- Observe proper lifting techniques to prevent injury
- Coordinate with pharmacies to ensure patients have adequate supplies of medicine
