Job Summary

As the VP Chief Life Actuary at Alfa Insurance, you are accountable for directing the development of new products, developing rates and reserves, reporting contractual liabilities, and assuring compliance with state and federal reporting regulations. In addition, the VP Chief Life Actuary is responsible for advising on tax matters connected with insurance products, monitoring the level and trend of profit and profitability by line of business and/or product, establishing values for existing blocks of business, and providing advice regarding the risk potential and/or financial impact of new and existing reinsurance transactions.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for directing the development of new products, developing rates and reserves, reporting contractual liabilities, and assuring compliance with state and federal reporting regulations, advising on tax matters connected with insurance products, monitoring the level and trend of profit and profitability by line of business and/or product, establishing values for existing blocks of business, and providing advice regarding the risk potential and/or financial impact of new and existing reinsurance transactions.
  • Develop efficient processing guidelines for new policies to assure effective policy administration and record keeping

Qualifications

  • 4-year college degree required
  • Be a member of the American Academy of Actuaries, and typically a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries or an Associate with extensive experience (i.e. 10 or more years) and knowledge of insurance products and operations
