Position: Tournament Director

Reports To: Adam Roser, Director of Facilities

Purpose: The Tournament Director position will be helping to strengthen a key area of our organization. World Baseball Academy is providing an outstanding array of services for young people in our community. However, the tournament director role often engages a larger volume of patrons to our ASH Centre campus. This position will help in two critical areas of serving a wide cross section of youth while also maximizing the campus to further enhance our vision for impact.

Experience: 2+ years of Event Planning experience is preferred | Entry Level Position may possibly be considered

Base Salary: $54,000.00 | Full-Time Position

Commission Pay: Eligibility for additional compensation based on annual financial management of Tournament operations.

Benefits: 3% Matching IRA Option | $1,500 Annual Health Stipend / Reimbursement Option

Payment Structure: Bi-Weekly Pay Periods

Schedule (Hours): The Tournament Director is expected to work 2,000 Hours as a Full-Time Employee. See previous packet page for tentative schedule.

Paid Time Off: Two Weeks Paid Time off per year. In addition, Major Holidays Off (excluding Holidays during Tournament season scheduled by Tournament Director) along with a two-week down period during Christmas and New Years that gives personnel flexibility for family time with limited work responsibilities. Growth Potential: WBA is gaining momentum in the transformation of the ASH Centre Sports Complex. The Tournament Director position has the ability to expand their leadership capacity and grow this area of operations.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience of 2+ years working within Youth Sports Event Planning
  • Commitment to Weekend Schedules (March – July)
  • Communications with Tournament Teams, Coaches, Parents
  • Scheduling Software Acumen
  • Management, Reporting & Scheduling of Season Support Staff
  • Recruitment of Teams & Support Staff
  • Oversight of Tournament Interns
  • Familiarity of Microsoft Office and Planning Software
  • Physical Demands (Walking, Portable Mound Moves, General Maintenance Support)

    • Collaborate with Facilities Director & CEO to build goals, outcomes measurements, budgets and annual calendar
    • Building Strategic Partnerships with Sanctioning Bodies
    • Collaborate with Umpiring Scheduler on master plan
  • Tournament Implementation
    • Promotion of Events
    • Recruitment of Tournament Support Staff
    • Securing Off Site Contracts
    • Purchasing of Tournament Supplies
    • Build out of management & reporting systems
  • Tournament Execution
    • Creation & Communication of Tournament Schedules
    • Scheduling of Tournament Support Staff
    • Communication with Coaches, Umpires, Parents
    • Event & Staff Management
    • Facility Care & Cleanliness
  • Tournament Reporting
    • Event Reports
  • Support Role
    • WBA Fundraising Events

Full-Time Position

  • January – Late March (12 Weeks)
    • Monday – Friday: Regular Office Hours
  • Late March – Late July (16 weeks)
    • Thursday – Sunday: Tournament Prep / Execution Days
    • Monday - Wednesday: Flexible Days
  • Late July – August (6 Weeks)
    • Monday – Friday: Reduced Office Hours
  • September – October (9 weeks)
    • Monday – Friday: Reduced Office Hours
    • Saturday – Sunday: Tournament / League Oversight
  • November – December (9 Weeks)
    • Monday – Friday: Regular Office Hours

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
