Position Overview

Riverside Research Institute (RRI) is seeking a dynamic and experienced Product Manager to join the DIU Commercial Operations Team. The role will be responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and management of our portfolio support capabilities, specifically to the products and programs we'll be delivering in support of DIU's portfolio companies. This role requires a blend of strategic thinking, programmatic experience, product management proficiency, and strong communication skills. The Commercial Operations Product Manager will provide support to the Commercial Operations team within DIU across various elements. At the core, the PM will be responsible for quarterbacking efforts to reduce the barriers to entry (software accreditation, security clearances, sales channels opaqueness, etc.) for non-traditional companies selling into the DoD. Core responsibilities for this role mirror that of traditional Product Management roles; however, this role seeks an individual contributor.

Responsibilities

  • Product Strategy: Develop and implement product strategies that align with the overall objectives of the Commercial Operations team.
  • Product Development: Work closely with cross-functional team members within DIU to develop programs from inception to launch.
  • Roadmap Management: Define and manage the product roadmap, ensuring timely delivery of product milestones.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, prioritize features, and ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • Performance Analysis: Monitor and analyze product performance, using data to drive decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive product documentation, including usage data, user stories, and success stories backed by data for overall DIU communication.
  • Delivering a consistent, on-brand DIU procurement experience to private sector partners, namely DIU's portfolio companies - therefore this candidate must be comfortable interacting at the senior executive level.
  • Representing the DIU brand with appropriate gravitas and poise in all situations.
  • Collaborate with and lead government partners, commercial teams, and other DIU support staff through the prototype development lifecycle.
  • Develop program goals, milestones, and plans for implementation collaboratively with DoD entities, customers, and program offices.
  • Review prototype proposals, technical and programmatic reports, acquisition documents, and related project documentation, keeping CRM and project databases up to date.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Business, Policy, or Engineering field.
  • 10+ years of experience working in the private sector in roles such as program management, product management, engineering, business development/sales leadership, finance, or corporate development.
  • Impeccable character and enduring integrity.
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity, adapt quickly to changing demands, and work with emerging technologies, methodologies, and solutions.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience and knowledge of challenges facing vendor go-to-market in national security and defense.
  • Familiarity with product management tools and methodologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Prior experience supporting and leading government and commercial vendor collaborative teams to rapidly iterate and deliver project tasks and milestones.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to shape ambiguous environments into successful outcomes.
  • Strong customer-centric mindset with the ability to translate customer needs into actionable product features.
  • Thorough understanding of startup company culture and operations.
  • Start-up experience within a dual-use company is highly desirable.
  • Prior military, intelligence community (IC), or Department of Defense (DoD) acquisition experience (i.e. program management) is a plus.
  • TS clearance and ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI.

Global Compensation

$150,000 - $250,000. This represents the typical compensation range for this position based on experience, location, and other factors.
