Job Summary:
A Payroll Manager is responsible for overseeing and directing payroll procedures within an organization. This role ensures accurate and timely payroll processing, compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and the maintenance of payroll records.
Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Oversee Payroll Processes to ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll transactions, including salaries, benefits, taxes, bonuses, complex commissions, and deductions.
  • Ensure accurate payroll processing to limit off cycle and manual check processing.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations.
  • Manage and mentor payroll team, ensuring efficient and effective operations.
  • Evaluate team performance and implement improvements as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate payroll records and reports.
  • Monitor changes in employee status (new hires, terminations, leaves) and update payroll records accordingly.
  • Develop and implement payroll policies and procedures to enhance efficiency, consistency, and compliance.
  • Oversee payroll system upgrades and improvements.
  • Address and resolve payroll-related issues and discrepancies.
  • Address employee inquiries regarding payroll, taxes, and deductions.
  • Provide support during audits related to payroll and tax compliance.
  • Ensure accurate and timely 401(k) funding.
  • Work closely with HR and finance departments to ensure seamless payroll operations.
  • Assist in budget preparation and financial forecasting related to payroll expenses.
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or related field.
  • Proven experience in payroll management or a similar role (typically 5+ years).
  • Strong knowledge of payroll software and systems (ADP Paychex).
  • Experience with multiple entities and Multi State Payroll.
  • Familiarity with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations.
  • Expertise in state, local, and SUI tax set ups and closures.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
