Position: Career Advisor Location: St. Paul, MN Job Id: CarAdvisor # of Openings: 1 Career Advisor Position Overview: The Career Development Specialist/Senior Career Development Specialist works in collaboration across the University toward increasing the retention, graduation, and career readiness of CSP students. The Career Development Specialist/Senior Career Development Specialist consults with faculty and staff to develop and deliver comprehensive career readiness initiatives, develops and implements career-focused events, delivers presentations, and holds career advising appointments. In addition to internal work, the position will work with employers to coordinate recruiting efforts. This position represents the institution with internal and external partners and makes informed decisions on behalf of the institution. Essential Duties: Career Advising/Coaching: Provide in-person, phone, and/or virtual career advising to all CSP students and alumni. Topics may include career planning, job search assistance, internship preparation, resume reviews, interview preparation, networking, and graduate school planning. Employer Relations: Coordinate job fairs. Co-administer CSP's internships for academic credit process. Additional Senior level duties include, but are not limited to: Oversee master Blackboard course, make recommendations to curriculum based on industry trends. Train faculty. Analyze data. Career Outreach, Programming & Collaboration: Work closely with faculty and staff to develop and deliver career readiness presentations, programming, and curriculum. Additional Senior level duties include, but are not limited to: Collaborate and offer consultations on career integration and readiness with admissions, academic departments, athletic teams, staff, and student clubs Technology and Social Media: Contribute towards social media plan.Co-manage department website. Co-manage CSP's job and internship board, Handshake. Additional Senior level duties include, but are not limited to: Research best practices on how to integrate Handshake into the CSP community. Collaborate with CSP Human Resources to support on-campus student employment. Supervision: Contribute towards onboarding efforts for student employees. Develop and oversee daily tasks. Education & Experience: Bachelor's Degree: Required Master's Degree: Preferred Preferred: 1-2 years of experience providing instruction on career development topics through individual advising, presentations, and/or programming Preferred: 1-2 years of experience working in a University career center, recruiting/talent development, training, or related setting Senior level: Required 2+ years of experience providing instruction on career development topics through individual advising, presentations, and/or programming. Ability to build effective relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds and experiences Ability to work as a member of a high-functioning, collaborative team. Strong evidence of organizational and time management skills. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with academic departments, faculty, staff, students, and local community Knowledge of employer recruitment strategies, job market trends, occupational, career and employment information sources Ability to develop and implement relevant programming Ability to identify and track data.
