Job Description
Join the top-ranked zoo in the nation as a Coordinator of Human Resources! This pivotal role will support a passionate group of employees committed to animals, their habitats, and their conservation by assisting with the zoo's recruiting and onboarding efforts.
This position will serve as a behind-the-scenes champion of the candidate and employee experience. Working closely with the Supervisor of Recruitment and Onboarding, this Coordinator will ensure that new employees have a seamless and positive introduction to the zoo. This role will support recruiting and onboarding administration and assist with various Human Resources functions while helping ensure new team members feel welcomed and set up for success from day one. Duties and Responsibilities/Essential Functions (include but not limited to)
  • Recruitment
    • Support the Supervisor of Recruitment and Onboarding as needed throughout the recruiting process including posting jobs on internal and external sites and communicating with applicants regarding their hiring status via text/phone/email.
    • Represent the zoo at recruiting events as needed.
    • Support the zoo's diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts by actively promoting inclusive hiring practices.
  • Onboarding
    • Coordinate and review background checks and drug screenings to determine eligibility.
    • Initiate the onboarding process and ensure candidate tasks are promptly completed.
    • Complete I-9s, E-Verify, and personnel action forms in a timely and accurate manner.
    • Assist with new hire orientation and help ensure a smooth transition into the workplace.
    • Manage the ordering and distribution of business cards.
    • Work with the Supervisor of Recruitment and Onboarding to continuously improve processes, enhancing the overall employee experience and the zoo's recruitment/onboarding strategies.
  • HRIS facilitation
    • Assist with the maintenance and accuracy of the HRIS (Paycom), ensuring it remains current with precise employee records.
  • Employee training
    • Aid in maintaining the online Learning Management System and ensuring employees receive prompt access to pertinent training information.
  • Administrative assistance
    • Support the Human Resources team with ad hoc office and administrative tasks such as submitting and coding invoices, filing, office supply maintenance, and fax handling.

Required Qualifications
  • Previous experience in administration, human resources, recruiting, or onboarding preferred.
  • Experience with database programs or HRIS systems preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and SharePoint.
  • Basic knowledge of, or willingness and ability to learn, employment laws and regulations including the I-9 and E-Verify processes.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to address issues and implement solutions effectively and efficiently.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with team members to improve processes and contribute to a positive employee experience.
  • A strong customer service focus with demonstrated commitment to ensuring positive experiences for candidates, employees, and all stakeholders.
Work Environment/Physical Demands
  • Foster a working environment that encompasses a level of respect, empathy and overall understanding for all employees.
  • Ability to frequently bend, stoop, crouch, kneel, reach upward, twist, and have good lateral movement.
  • This role primarily involves working in an office environment, but it may occasionally require walking outdoors across the zoo or light lifting.
  • Occasional travel to the Lee G. Simmons Wildlife Safari Park as needed.
Remote Work
  • This is to be determined in conjunction with the Department Head and Zoo policy.
Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
Work authorization
