JOB GOAL
The Director of Information Technology will oversee all technology (hardware/software) aspects and resources of the District; establish a technology vision and lead the District's technology development.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelors' degree in Technology, Information Technology, Computer Science or Related Field (required)
  • Masters Degree (preferred)
  • Five years or more experience in School leadership and Information Technology (preferred)
  • Has excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Any combination of education and experience to the above qualifications as the Governing Board may find appropriate and acceptable
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Works in a consultative fashion with other department heads such as Superintendent's office, Public Relations, Business Services, Human Resources, Educational Services, and School Principals as an advisor of technologies that may improve their work efficiencies and effectiveness
  • Ensures Cybersecurity is at the forefront of all decisions and actions to ensure the district is protected
  • Sets and measures strenuous but attainable goals for the Information Technology Department and timely completion of performance appraisals.
  • Is proactive in troubleshooting and ensuring all aspects of technology use for instruction and assessments are continuously highly effective
  • Understands the need to have technology and all aspects of technology ready for Governing Board Meetings, District and School events and a system in place
  • Acts as a good steward of the District resources and implements procedures to safeguard and control assets
  • Directly project manages installation of all new systems (audio video systems/equipment/televisions), technology upgrades such as (new device/monitors/document cameras) and ensures constant communication with stakeholders on installation status
  • Communicates the District's technology strategy to the Superintendent's Leadership Team, Governing Board, Principals and other stakeholders
  • Develops, implements and maintains a robust work order system to track and resolve all technology related issues from technology end users
  • Designs a professional development plan on technology courses to train District computer users; selects and registers District domain names
  • Develops and maintains a robust District-wide Disaster Recovery Plan
  • Identifies competitive advantages and technological trends for the benefit of the District; consistently evaluates technical efficiencies and makes changes as necessary
  • Plans and implements proper Internet usage policies for employees, students and the Governing Board.
  • Collaborates with principals and educational services to ensure hardware, software, and network connections are ready for formative and summative assessments, including state testing
  • Develops, implements and maintains all internal and external communication systems such as intranets, emails, websites, instant messaging etc.
  • Develops and directs all networking safeguards to reduce the risk of breaches
  • Ensures data is secure and maintains strict confidentiality of critical and personal information
  • Manages and evaluates IT staff
  • Performs other tasks and duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
  • Knowledge of applicable Federal, state, county and city statutes, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of applicable Cartwright School District and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Basic reading, writing and mathematical skills.
  • Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction

CALENDAR: 12-Month Admin (B); As approved by the Governing Board
