Staff Accountant

POSITION OVERVIEW AND PURPOSE
The Staff Accountant will assist with general accounting functions including journal entries, cash application, accounts payable, reconciliations, and month-end close. This entry-level position will provide exposure to various aspects of the accounting cycle and offer opportunities for professional development and career growth within the organization. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, eager to learn, and has a basic understanding of accounting principles.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
• Apply cash receipts to customer accounts
• Process vendor bills into our Accounts Payable system
• Assist in preparing journal entries in the general ledger.
• Reconcile bank accounts, balance sheet accounts, and intercompany transactions.
• Support the month-end and year-end close process, including accruals, reconciliations, and reporting.
• Collaborate with other departments to gather information and resolve accounting discrepancies.
• Maintain accurate and organized records, including supporting documentation for journal entries and transactions.
• Perform ad hoc analyses and tasks as assigned by the Accounting Manager or senior team members.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's degree in accounting or related area, or equivalent experience required
• 2 years of accounting or related experience preferred (internship experience acceptable).
• Basic knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software (experience with NetSuite is a plus).
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
• Eagerness to learn and adapt in a dynamic environment.
