The Corporate Compensation team at Capital One is seeking an energetic, self-motivated Risk Manager to join the team. The ideal candidate will work with partners in Employment Law, Human Resources Risk Office, Incentive Risk and within the Compensation team to manage and execute on the various enterprise risk programs. The role requires someone who demonstrates strong communication, pays great attention to detail, has excellent problem solving skills and can influence to drive work forward.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in various Risk Assessments engaging with the Vertical Risk Advisor, as well as Compliance and Operational Risk Management to proactively identify and remediate potential risks.

  • Engage in the review of policy documents and partners with policy stakeholders to drive consistency and improve content in policy documents.

  • Conduct reviews on new and existing positions to ensure they are classified correctly as exempt or non-exempt according to the to Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA)

  • Issues Management - Identify and track issues and events to mitigate risk within Compensation. Coordinate with applicable business areas to define and implement timely remediation activities and develop recommendations for corrective actions as needed.

  • Audit and Exam Management - Provide support to business partners during audits and regulatory exams; support in the delivery of key risk mitigation and remediation activities.

  • Risk Classification - Run process to ensure accurate identification of Covered and Control associates

  • Partner with HR Risk Office to perform analysis of risk and requirements and their association with controls and support the development of new controls as needed

  • Manage the content development and partner with Learning teams to roll out annual trainings on Time Tracking and Risk Goal Training

  • Business Area Information Manager - Serve as the liaison between Enterprise Data Management and Human Resources business areas in managing their official records

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or military experience

  • At least 5 years of Human Resources, legal or risk management experience, or a combination

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of Project Management experience leading cross functional programs in Risk or Compliance

  • 4+ years experience in Compensation and/or Sales Incentives

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, or Google Sheets and Slides experience

  • Knowledge of human resources and compensation including knowledge of relevant Federal, State, Local laws and regulations relating to compensation and employment law
