PURPOSE

The Director of Job and Career Services will lead and manage the Job and Career Services program at BDI, ensuring effective service delivery to individuals with disabilities. The program includes evaluation and career planning, work readiness, employment skills training, job development, placement services, Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS), and supported employment. The Director will play a pivotal role in developing new programs, enhancing existing services, and collaborating with stakeholders to achieve organizational goals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

Program Leadership and Management:

  1. Lead, manage, and supervise the Job and Career Services team.
  2. Develop and implement strategic plans to enhance service delivery and achieve program objectives.
  3. Ensure compliance with organizational policies, state and federal regulations, and accreditation standards.
  4. Financial Management: Ensure a strong understanding of financial principles, effectively managing resources to optimize outcomes.
  5. Budget Development and Execution: Ability to set and meet budgeted targets.
  6. Proactive Course Correction: Develop strategies for swiftly identifying and rectifying deviations from objectives, addressing challenges with urgency to eliminate roadblocks and seize opportunities.

Service Delivery:

  1. Oversee the provision of evaluation and career planning, work readiness, skilled training, job development, placement services, Pre-ETS, and supported employment.
  2. Ensure individualized service plans are developed and executed to meet a person-centered approach.
  3. Monitor program outcomes and implement continuous improvement initiatives.

Program Development:

  1. Identify opportunities for new program development and enhancements to existing services.
  2. Lead the design and implementation of new program initiatives.
  3. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to secure resources and support for program development.

Participant and Stakeholder Engagement:

  1. Foster strong relationships with individuals, employers, community partners, and other stakeholders.
  2. Advocate for the needs and rights of individuals with disabilities in the workforce.
  3. Represent BDI at community events, conferences, and other relevant forums.

Staff Development:

  1. Recruit, train, and mentor Job and Career Services staff.
  2. Promote a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
  3. Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  1. Master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, Vocational Rehabilitation, or a related field.
  2. Minimum of 7 years of experience working with individuals with disabilities.
  3. Minimum of 3 years of experience in a leadership/managerial role.
  4. Proven track record in employment services, including job development and placement.
  5. Background/experience in program development.

PREFERED EXPERIENCE

  1. Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) certification.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  1. Moderately quiet office.
  2. This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY Job and Career Services team

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK This is a full-time position with expectations of a minimum 40-hour work week.

TRAVEL This role requires active field engagement, with regular visits to schools, community locations, and other relevant sites to engage directly with participants and stakeholders. This role will provide hands-on leadership and foster collaborative partnerships. Participation in state and/or national conferences.
