The Role

Deckers Brands, a global leader in footwear and apparel, is seeking an experienced and dynamic Director, Group Product Lifecycle. This pivotal role is integral to our agile transformation journey, focusing on optimizing innovation, sustainability, cost efficiency, customer experience (internal), scalability, data cleanliness and governance, regulatory compliance, and streamlined processes throughout our physical product creation and development cycle.

The Director, Group Product Lifecycle will be a strategic, results-driven leader with a deep commitment to product innovation, excellence, and growth. This newly created position will collaborate closely with executive leadership across all brands, as well as with supply chain, legal, and technology teams. The role encompasses overseeing strategic planning, development, adoption, and the business impact of digital and physical product creation solutions.

The ideal candidate will possess strong product management experience with the ability to create strategy and vision around their domain, build key partnerships with business and stakeholders to partner on desired outcomes, ability to manage product owners and work with delivery teams to decompose the set strategy and vision. Additionally, the candidate should possess domain experience in the physical product lifecycle space. This includes experience with PLM systems, Digital Product Creation solutions, sourcing tools, manufacturing systems, material libraries and the underlying data associated. The role will be responsible and accountable for creating the right strategy and execution through the digital product teams to create standards, improve data quality, improve business interaction with business tools, improve compliance and improve overall speed to market in this domain.

Your Impact
The primary functions of this role, include but are not limited to:

  • Oversee the entire lifecycle of Physical Product Lifecycle products, from conception and development to launch and continuous improvement.
  • Develop and articulate a clear vision for the Physical Product Lifecycle product group in alignment with overarching business strategy. Identify market trends, customer needs, and new opportunities to enhance the product offerings. Create transparency into roadmap, ensuring alignment with the company's overall objectives and market opportunities
  • Ensure the delivery of business outcomes and value through a technical understanding of physical and digital product creation systems, promoted and shared across the Product Lifecycle product group team.
  • Define and monitor success criteria as well as both leading and lagging key performance indicators (KPIs). Regularly report progress to senior management and adjust strategies as needed.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders and technical teams impacted by Product Lifecycle to drive strategic alignment of product delivery with company goals as well as adoption by customers.
  • Prioritize the most impactful problems to solve to realize strategic outcomes, as well as shape the solution options for product and delivery teams to decompose strategy to execution.
  • Manage the product management budget and resources to achieve business objectives within scope.
  • Work closely with other product groups and functional departments (such as sales, marketing, and customer service) to ensure product group alignment with company goals and customer expectations. Act as the primary liaison between technical teams and business units.
  • Work to manage risk and remove impediments impacting product efficiencies through continuous product group improvement initiatives and partnership with cross functional teams and leadership.
  • Provide transparency and insights into capacity and skillset gaps across teams. Work with appropriate cross functional leaders to remediate.

We’d love to hear from people with

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Engineering, Computer Science or related field.
  • Advance degree MBA preferred.
  • Product Management and/or Product Ownership certifications desired: CPM, CSPO, PSPO, ACPMPO, or equivalent certification/s
  • +12 years of experience in product management, product strategy development, product lifecycle management, and product launch.
  • Experience in physical product creation of footwear through utilization of systems, tools and processes
  • A track record of product and project management success in a global organization with Physical Product Lifecycle capabilities.
  • Demonstrated success managing a team of product owners across multiple geographies.
  • Demonstrated success aligning strategy across senior leadership.
  • Experience in a global matrixed organization.
  • Global experience, ideally with significant international experience across North America, Asia, and Europe.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications and facilitation skills – Specifically towards key business stakeholders, product managers, and engineers.

$195,000 - $215,000

The salary range posted reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this role in our Goleta, CA location. Individual pay will be determined by location and additional factors, including job related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
