Role Definition:

  • As a Tax Manager, you will support the U.S. GAAP (ASC 740) reporting and related Sarbanes-Oxley Controls and issues for Caterpillar Financial Services Corporation (CFSC) and its Subsidiaries and Caterpillar Financial Insurance Services (CFIS) and its related companies.
  • This experienced tax and accounting professional will be a valued member of a team that performs complex compliance and income tax provision activities, leads and/or supports special projects, and provides support for income tax accounting related matters in financial statement audits in partnership with our local finance managers around the world.
  • The role will challenge you to combine technical and business knowledge to complete and/or review a high-quality work product, adapt to rapidly changing legislative and regulatory environments by documenting accounting for income tax positions, and demonstrate critical thinking skills through the implementation of controls and analysis.

Responsibilities:

  • Timely and accurately prepare and/or review complex income tax provision calculations and comparisons for U.S. and non-U.S. based companies and subsidiaries.
  • Work closely with finance managers, accounting managers, tax compliance professionals, and technical specialists to ensure appropriate preparation and review on technical areas relating to U.S. GAAP Accounting for Income Tax (ASC 740) matters.
  • Provide support for income tax provision calculations, return to provision calculations, and deferred tax balance validations from a U.S. GAAP Accounting for Income Tax (ASC 740) perspective for U.S. and non-U.S. companies and subsidiaries.
  • Work closely with internal accounting management for the accurate and timely external reporting of U.S. GAAP Accounting for Income Tax (ASC 740) disclosures.
  • Lead or support the analysis and development of responses to support internal management, external financial statement audits, and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) control testing inquiries with respect to U.S. GAAP Accounting for Income Tax (ASC 740) matters and controls.
  • Lead or support projects, process improvements, implementation of controls, or other planning initiatives.

What You Have:

  • Education/Experience: This position typically requires a bachelor’s degree in accounting and 4+ years of progressively responsible tax and/or accounting related experience. A master’s degree in accounting or taxation and a CPA are preferred. Equivalent experience may be substituted for education.
  • Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts; corresponds with a global audience and avoids tax technical jargon when communicating with finance managers and business partners.
  • Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches and tools for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving problems; initiative and ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to alternative scenarios with understanding of stakeholder perspectives.
  • Accounting for Income Taxes Operations: Knowledge of U.S. GAAP Accounting for Income Taxes (ASC 740) concepts and SEC reporting for income taxes; utilizes tools to identify and gather the information necessary for preparation or review of tax accounting analysis and explains rationale behind U.S. GAAP impacts.

Top Candidates Will Also Have:

  • Base understanding of U.S. international taxation.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Collaborative and team-oriented personality with the ability to build and foster relationships throughout the organization.
  • Understanding of accounting and business processes.

Additional Information:

  • This role is a hybrid position and would require any successful candidate to commit to a 3 day per week in-office requirement.
