Corporate Human Resources Manager

(This position will be filled in 2025, interviewing currently)

Location: Must live in Tallahassee, FL

ROLE SUMMARY:

The Human Resources Manager will monitor all Human Resources functions for the corporate employees across the states. The Human Resources Manager is responsible for implementing company policies and managing procedures in a fair and consistent manner. This position is responsible for supporting managers and staff, overseeing the timely completion of performance evaluations, maintenance of personnel records and filing system, performing applicable investigations, providing assistance with disciplinary and grievance issues, as well as supporting the full cycle recruitment process, training and benefits administration. This position must have extensive knowledge of labor employment laws.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Policies

  • Labor and employee relations implementation, support, and review of legal requirements, standards, procedures, etc.
  • Ability to help develop, implement, support, and review all Human Resources Department initiatives, policies, procedures, and systems
  • Maintains the employee handbook with updated resolutions and other pertinent information, as needed
  • Compliance with all policies and legal requirements
  • Explaining human resources policies, procedures, laws, and standards to new and existing employees
  • Perceptive nature, careful monitoring of working conditions to ensure legal compliance
  • Providing advice & counsel to Site Managers and other leadership staff

Recruitment & Onboarding

  • Work with Talent Acquisition to ensure hiring process is executed timely; review resumes, conduct screening interviews
  • Ensure all appropriate paperwork is filled out in a timely process and adheres to all regulations
  • Process transfers, promotions, and terminations
  • Continued involvement in and refinement of the recruitment process

Training

  • Work with managers and L&D department to identify training needs and opportunities
  • Leadership and instructional aptitudes to provide training and oversight on policies and procedures
  • Conduct training sessions, administer on-the-job training programs, work with L&D to evaluate the effectiveness of training programs, maintain records of employee participation in all training and development programs

Benefits

  • Bridge communication between employees and benefits department
  • Support open enrollment process annually, and qualifying event changes as needed

Performance Evaluations

  • Participate in performance evaluation processes and ensure timely completion of evaluations

Investigations

  • Composure and confidentiality required to handle disciplinary and grievance issues
  • Ability to address any employment relations issues, such as work complaints and harassment allegations, including legal compliance investigations.

Administrative

  • Administrative duties, including upkeep of employee records, union relations audits, reporting, etc.
  • Maintains personnel files in compliance with applicable legal requirements
  • Prepares and updates employment records related to hiring, transferring, promoting, and terminating
  • Ensures new hire paperwork is completed and processed
  • Processes personnel action forms and ensures proper approvals; disseminates approved forms in timely fashion
  • Maintains listing of approved positions along with assigned salary grade levels
  • Supervise a small team
  • Other tasks as assigned

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BA degree or higher in related field of study
  • 6+ years’ experience in HR field operations and employee relations
  • 3+ years’ experience in supporting corporate employees at a manager level/responsibility
  • 2+ years’ experience in a supervisory capacity
  • PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP, preferred
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered, including internal experience (year for year management experience can be substituted for education).
  • Extensive employment law knowledge
  • Travel required
  • Must be and remain compliant with local, state, and federal laws, statutes, and regulations; particularly those related to working in the cannabis industry
  • Labor relations experience required
  • Must function independently, confidentiality, and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with personnel and government agencies

ADDITIONAL MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrated computer literacy with knowledge of Microsoft Suite
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong analytical and communication skills
  • Flexibility to work non-traditional business hours as needed. Our locations operate 24/7 and the ideal candidate will have the occasional need to be in the facility during non-traditional business hours
  • Must be able to work at other locations that may include overnight travel on occasion
  • Must be at least 21 years of age (legal requirement)
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and good driving record
  • Must successfully complete a comprehensive background screening

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 25 lbs. to a minimum height of 5 feet and able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet, with or without mechanical assistance
  • Must be able to work seated/standing as appropriate at workstations for extended periods of time, maintain body equilibrium while climbing ladders, stairways, stopping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching, and use hands/fingers to hold, grasp, turn, pick, pinch frequently/constantly to complete tasks
  • Must have visual acuity with/without job aids to perform activities such as; reading, viewing a computer terminal, visual inspection involving small parts/details. Clarity of vision at 20 ft or more in day and night/dark conditions
  • Must be able to speak and communicate verbally at conversation levels with co-workers, vendors, etc. (Moderate noise)
