POSITION TITLE : Associate General Counsel, Director, Insurance Regulatory

POSITION LOCATION : Richmond, VA

YOUR ROLE : You will provide advice and counsel on a broad array of legal issues affecting Genworth’s insurance companies, focusing on its long-term care insurance business. A core part of this role will include being a strategic advisor to senior leadership on Insurance Holding Company System Act and corporate insurance regulatory matters.

What you will be doing

  • Provide strategic advice and counsel on Insurance Holding Company System Act and corporate insurance regulatory matters.
  • Employ conceptual and innovative thinking to develop solutions; anticipate business challenges or regulatory issues.
  • Lead contracting initiatives between insurance affiliate entities and external parties.
  • Provide support on issues affecting Genworth’s long-term care insurance business, including guidance on new and existing insurance products.
  • Work closely with other members of Genworth’s Legal team and external parties such as regulators and attorneys.
  • Provide advice on the impact of new laws, regulations, and case law.
  • Identify legal and regulatory risks and develop risk avoidance and mitigation strategies.

What you bring

Required

  • JD degree from an accredited law school.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience as legal counsel within a corporate legal department, state department of insurance, or a quality law firm focused on insurance regulatory matters.
  • Experience with Insurance Holding Company System Act and corporate insurance regulatory matters.

Preferred

  • Experience with long-term care insurance and the applicable legal/regulatory environment.
  • Experience drafting contracts and providing strategic advice about contracting initiatives.
  • Outstanding written and oral communications skills.
  • Proactive, creative problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
