Paris, Texas is a city located 90 minutes northeast of the Dallas–Fort Worth
Metroplex in Lamar County, Texas. It is situated in Northeast Texas at the
western edge of the Piney Woods. Easy access to the beautiful cabins in Broken
Bow, OK and all the fun you can imagine at the WinStar World Casino and Resort
in Thackerville, OK.
Following a tradition of American cities named Paris, a 65-foot (20 m) replica
of the Eiffel Tower was constructed in 1993. In 1998, as a response to the
1993 construction of a 70-foot (21 m) tower in Paris, Tennessee, the city
placed a giant red cowboy hat atop the tower. Radio personality Paul Harvey
once said Paris, Texas, was a city “where tomorrow fell in love with
yesterday, and side by side, they lived happily ever after.” He described a
city complete with stately 19th-century homes and downtown attractions.
Paris offers fun things to do, including touring historic homes, attending
festivals, playing in the great outdoors or taking a picture next to its
65-foot-tall Eiffel Tower. Paris has public parks and waterways as well as
sports clubs open to the public. The 1,060-acre Lake Crook, a tributary of the
Red River, contains channel and blue catfish, largemouth bass and white
crappie. The lake has a boat ramp, fishing pier and picnic area. Paris Skeet
and Trap Club comprises three regulation skeet fields, a regulation trap field
and a five-stand clay-shooting field. The 3-mile, multiuse Trail de Paris is
open to runners, joggers, walkers, bikers and skaters.
