Overview:

The FP&A team’s goal is to deliver accurate and high-quality information and analysis to Operations in order to drive better business results. The Sr. FP&A Analyst provides business and financial support to TEC Equipment’s management team through managing the annual budget process, improving data consistency and integrity, development of operational KPIs and associated reporting, and creating analytical tools to support better decision-making. The candidate will be comfortable performing complex duties requiring advanced professional experience, leadership skills, knowledge, and a high level of competency in finance best practices.

This is a highly visible role that includes frequent interaction with senior management and other key internal stakeholders. The Sr. FP&A Analyst will be expected to be a highly driven, solution-focused individual that can work well with internal partners at all levels. The candidate should be comfortable with ambiguity, changes in direction and priorities, and demonstrate the ability to perform in a frequently changing environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Own all aspects of the annual budget process: project planning and management, budget template design and construction, analysis, compiling data, training, etc.
  • Analyze monthly results, documenting and explaining variances, identifying trends and recommending actions to management. Provide insight into current and past financial data and performance using both typical P&L information, as well as KPIs particular to this industry and company. Deliver essential messages in a condensed and precise manner to leaders.
  • Manage all aspects of assigned financial reporting packages, including report updates, template rebuilds, resolving data consistency and definition issues, to ensure the expected level of accuracy and timeliness is maintained.
  • Lead projects that are critical to the FP&A team. Develop project charters and detailed project plans, managing through roadblocks to achieve project objectives. Use own judgment and provide a process to ease group resolution of issues; clarify points of view and terminology to gain group acceptance; facilitate the actions, decisions, or opinions of others in a positive direction.
  • Create operational reporting and KPIs. Develop source data by thoroughly understanding current state sources, proposing short and long term solutions to collect useful information, resolve data definitions and integrity issues. Project manage the development of data, report design and associated infrastructure.
  • Develop forecasting tools, pro formas, and other analytical tools and templates for usage by FP&A, senior leadership, and members of Operations. Creatively support problem-solving through the development of easy to use tools and templates.
  • Independently and proactively analyze financial information and develop solutions to complex problems.
  • Mentor junior team members by actively modeling best practices in development of work product, project management, and commitment to quality and accuracy.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, or specialized training/certification or equivalent work experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience in financial/analytical positions.
  • Experience with leading aspects of an annual budget process.
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and with high attention to quality and accuracy.
  • Very strong project and process management skills, including ability to independently disaggregate problems into defined work plans to meet deadlines.
  • Able to effectively juggle multiple projects at one time.
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently and to manage cross-functional business partners who are not direct line reports.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including ability to propose solutions, ask incisive questions, identify root causes.
  • Strong analytical skills, including understanding critical issues, not just “crunching numbers.”
  • Strong business acumen and ability to communicate financial concepts in terms that others can understand.
  • Comfortable expressing divergent opinions in a constructive and engaging manner, and resolving issues to move work forward.
  • Exposure to medium to large sized companies that operate in a best practice environment.
  • Knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of data preparation and ETL, and familiarity with PowerQuery.
