SENIOR CIVIL ENGINEER

Broadbent & Associates, Inc., a leading environmental consulting firm, is on the lookout for a dynamic and driven Senior Civil Engineer to support our expanding operations based in either our Denver, Fort Collins, Phoenix or San Antonio offices. Broadbent is a multi-disciplined consulting firm providing a broad suite of environmental and engineering services to oil companies, mining operations, agricultural companies, municipalities, private industries, governmental agencies, public and private utilities, and developers. Current Opportunity:

Broadbent is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer with ten-plus years of experience. The successful candidate will design water and wastewater systems of varying complexity from standalone systems that can process 5,000 gallons per day to systems capable of processing 100,000 gallons per day of potable water and effluent. Additionally, the successful candidate should have experience with environmental remediation systems, grading, spill prevention and control plans, stormwater pollution prevention, and chemical accident prevention programs.

Essential Qualities, Duties, and Responsibilities:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license, or the ability to obtain within six months of employment.
  • Ten or more years of experience in environmental consulting or related industry
  • Previous commercial/industry experience
  • Ability to liaise and coordinate with new and existing clients, develop proposals for new work, and develop client relationships to enhance the value that Broadbent brings to its clients
  • Advanced project management skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously and stay within budget, on schedule, and in compliance with applicable regulations
  • High proficiency in technical writing and computer literacy
  • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with regulatory entities, clients, and Broadbent leadership. Must possess the leadership and management acumen to effectively manage resources to accomplish the assigned tasks, and to identify where skill and/or capacity gaps exist and communicate them to senior leadership when necessary to keep projects moving forward. Acts as client liaison for matters related to project performance and compliance with regulator direction.
  • Preparation and review of permit language, work plans, reports, design drawings, shop drawings, and equipment submittals
  • Quickly learn new jurisdiction regulation schemes and apply to applicable projects.
  • Ensure compliance with the Safe Drinking Water Act and Clean Water Act

Desired Qualities:

  • Knowledge of the consulting business landscape
  • Expertise in environmental assessment, remediation, water supply and treatment, stormwater management, wastewater treatment, permitting, and compliance.
  • A commitment to staff development and safety and the ability to train and mentor junior staff members as they develop professionally.
  • Advanced technical capabilities within their area of expertise
  • Exceptional problem-solving, research, and communication skills
  • Experience in identifying and mitigating potential hazards associated with site operations.
  • Experience in cost projections and tracking

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive Annual Salary ($89,700 - $105,500) final salary is dependent on project experience, certifications, and consulting

Work Schedule and Location:

This is a full-time position with typical workdays from Monday to Friday, with occasional travel and weekend work. The position can be based in Denver, Ft. Collins, Phoenix or San Antonio supporting both local and regional projects.
