The Role
Software Engineer II - Insights, Data Engineering & Analytics team (IDEAS)
As a Software Engineer II - (IDEAS) you will be responsible for technical leadership and end-to-end development of AI/ML powered data solutions that will help M365 gain strategic insights in this ‘Copilot’ era. We are looking for an experienced engineer to enhance data processing capabilities for Microsoft Copilot(s) and other strategic initiatives that are business critical for the company.

Responsibilities
- Responsible for the technical leadership and end-to-end development of AI/ML powered data solutions that will help M365 gain the strategic insights we need to deliver the most optimal user experience and to quickly adapt to market conditions that are constantly evolving.
- Apply your Generative AI/Machine Learning, engineering and analytical skills to petabyte-scale data problems using the latest and most modern data analytics technologies on an ever-increasing number of data signals produced by the different products part of the M365 suite and our partners across the company.
- Responsible for designing features for large scale distributed data onboarding and as part of Data Driven culture, drive refinement of products through data analytics and integration.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to C#, Java, C++, JavaScript, or Python
- OR equivalent experience.
- 2+ years experience with building cloud scale big data analytics applications and cloud platforms (e.g. Azure, AWS, GCP).
- 1 + year experience with any of the following: Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML).
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR equivalent experience.
- Experience with Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML).
- Experience with building cloud scale big data analytics applications and cloud platforms (e.g. Azure, AWS, GCP).
- Experience with at least one of the following scripting languages: PowerShell, Python, JavaScript or Ruby.
Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $98,300 - $193,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $127,200 - $208,800 per year.
