The Social Worker for the Blind will provide Independent Living Services, counseling, Medical Eye Care, and specialized services for blind and visually impaired consumers of all ages living in Wilson County. The Social Worker for the Blind provides services to assist consumers in becoming or remaining independent by teaching techniques and methods of daily living skills, personal care, home management and self-advocacy. The social worker for the blind works closely with other professionals and resources to assist consumers in attaining and maintaining their highest level of self-sufficiency.
Since 1935, the mission of the North Carolina Division of Services for the Blind (DSB) has been to enable people who are visually impaired, blind, and deafblind to reach their goals of independence and employment.
