Ädelbrook’s Academies are private special education programs certified by the State Department of Education to serve students with autism, neurodevelopmental disorders, emotional disturbance, and learning disabilities from pre-Kindergarten through grade 12. Ädelbrook’s Transitional Academy, for students ages 18–21, focuses on life-long learning and life skills, and employment proficiencies through meaningful work experiences and community engagement.

Job Summary:

The Lead Behavior Analyst of the Residential and School setting will be responsible for supervising all Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) in adherence with the BACB (Behavior Analyst Certification Board). The Lead BCBA will oversee clinical supervision hours for RBTs or those master-level students eligible for the accumulation of clinical hours and preparing to sit for the BCBA exam.

In addition to clinical supervision, the Lead BCBA may carry a small caseload. Responsibilities include oversight and conducting behavioral observations and assessments of behavior within residential and educational settings to determine the function of behavior and design intervention plans. They will provide oversight, modeling, and training alongside the supervisee to ensure appropriate implementation of behavioral programs and data collection. The Lead Behavior Analyst will design and monitor all data collection and present data and progress reports during all appropriate meetings supporting those that are not yet credentialed. They will review behavior plans, Functional Behavioral Assessments, data collection, training methods, and behavioral goals and objectives for IEPs and Treatment plans. The Lead Behavior Analyst will conduct trainings and meetings with staff to ensure adherence to all professional and best practice guidelines and report to the Director of Behavioral Services and Training to monitor adherence to all ethical and professional guidelines set forth by Ädelbrook, the BACB, and the Department of Children and Families.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all tracking and supervision of Registered Behavior Technician or BCBA eligible clinical hours:
  • Responsible for weekly supervisions with supervisees
  • Responsible for monthly group supervision with supervisees
  • Responsible for tracking system/grid of all implementations of plan and assessment updates
  • Oversight or completion of behavioral assessments upon intake and ongoing to determine functions of behavior and guide behavior plan development
  • Oversight of behavior intervention plan development to address problem behaviors and increase pro-social, replacement behaviors
  • Develop and monitor all data collection for assessment of treatment and necessary updates
  • Help develop behavioral goals to monitor treatment residentially and educationally
  • Provide all necessary trainings to supervisees
  • Responsible for staying up to date with any code changes or continuing education
  • Attend all relevant meetings and present data and progress reports (residentially and educationally) as the certified Behavior Analyst
  • Attend supervision meetings and trainings with Director of Behavioral Services and Training
  • Train staff (educational and residential) on all aspects of behavior intervention plans
  • Participate in monthly and quarterly behavior support plan trainings
  • Conduct on-site observations of implementations, competency reviews of staff, and treatment integrity checks to assess plan implementation and guide staff training
  • Organize and conduct meetings with classroom staff weekly to discuss progress and evaluate treatment and participate in residential treatment team review (TTR) meetings
  • Provide clinical supervision for BCBA candidates adhering to all guidelines outlined by the BACB
  • Review goals and objectives written for IEPs to ensure appropriateness and adherence to best practice standards
  • Monitor school-based restraint and seclusion data to assess need for PPTs
  • Attend regular supervision meetings with Director of Behavioral Services
  • Provide on-call weekend support as part of the clinical rotation
  • Work in collaboration with clinician to complete necessary clinician documents and treatment planning including but not limited to: family treatment sessions, monthly treatment plan progress report (MTPPR), administrative case review (ACR), DCF/DDS provider meetings, etc.
  • Provide any and all services assigned by Director of Behavioral Services or program administrator, potentially across any of the Learning Center Programs

Education, Experience, and other Qualifications:

The Behavior Analyst of Residential must possess a Master’s degree, be a BCBA in good standing, meet and/or be eligible to meet the BACB supervisor requirements, and be licensed in the state of Connecticut as a Behavior Analyst. The ideal candidate must have at least 2 years of experience developing Applied Behavior Analytic programming and previous experience supervising BCBA candidates is preferred. In addition, the candidate must have completed the 8-hour supervision training or maintained ongoing supervision training through CEUs. The ideal candidate must have experience working with individuals on the Autism Spectrum, developmental disabilities, or with behavioral challenges (2+ years’ experience). Preferably, they will have previous experience supervising others within work settings (educational, residential, or human services preferred). Candidates should have experience developing behavioral trainings, supervising staff in behavioral programs, designing and implementing behaviorally-based applied behavioral analysis treatment programs, and working with multidisciplinary teams. They must possess good organizational and interpersonal skills. Current certification in First-Aid, CPR, and PMT is required (provided upon hire).
