We are seeking a dynamic, passionate self-starter to join the Global Road Safety Risk Management team as a Senior Manager, Risk Management to support the Asia-Pacific region. This role will be focused on identifying, analyzing and mitigating safety risks as well as ensuring the performance and effectiveness of safety risk controls to enable Amazon to safely scale as the largest package delivery service on the planet. Additionally, this role will ensure the organization exceeds its safety objectives through collecting, analyzing, and assessing information. You will build safety risk assessment and management protocols for our businesses, create metrics to evaluate risk control effectiveness, oversee qualitative and quantitative risk assessments, and knowledge of risk remediation/mitigation/control processes is strongly preferred. This role requires scoping large projects, managing project timelines, identifying safety gaps, and communicating to senior management on safety risks. Cross-team coordination, project management, executive presentation skills, a penchant for process improvement, and a proven history of delivering results are essential for success. A bias for action and comfort in dealing with ambiguity are a must.


Key job responsibilities

  1. You will manage a team of program managers who build audit/inspection protocols for our businesses, create metrics to evaluate risk control effectiveness, support qualitative and quantitative risk assessments, and knowledge of risk remediation/mitigation/control processes is strongly preferred.
  2. This role requires scoping large projects, managing project timelines, identifying safety gaps, and communicating to senior management on safety risks.
  3. Cross-team coordination, project management, executive presentation skills, a penchant for process improvement, and a proven history of delivering results are essential for success.
  4. A bias for action and comfort in dealing with ambiguity are a must.
  5. You will also lead safety risk assessments and management framework development partnering with cross-functional teams.
  6. Responsible for identifying control improvements and building partnerships with teams to resolve identified risks and monitoring risk management and assurance methodologies from a process improvement perspective as the program grows.
  7. Review and inform transportation safety-related policies to drive policy improvements.
  8. Conduct safety risk assessments for compliance with over the road safety regulations, policies, standards, and procedures.
  9. Convey findings, including escalations, to stakeholders in a clear, easily digestible format.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Experience working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams
  2. 7+ years of program or project management experience
  3. Bachelor's degree
  4. Experience defining program requirements and using data and metrics to drive improvements
  5. Experience managing teams of 6 or more
  6. Experience working with, presenting to and influencing senior executives up to VP level
  7. 5+ years of delivering cross functional projects experience
  8. Experience transitioning between high-judgement, strategic thinking and tactical execution
  9. 5+ years of safety risk management experience
  10. 5+ years of risk and hazard analysis
  11. Risk assessment methodology experience that includes an understanding and practical knowledge of risk analysis, risk mitigation, risk management, risk matrix and development of risk criteria.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. MBA
  2. 6+ years of managing teams experience
  3. Experience managing, analyzing and communicating results to senior leadership
  4. Experience implementing repeatable processes and driving automation or standardization
  5. Experience defining and executing program requirements
  6. Experience defining risk management roadmaps / Safety Management Systems
