Job Requirements / Description

As a Machinist, you will program, set-up, adjust, and operate manual and/or Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machining center, lathes, and milling machines where set-up, detail and operating procedures are prescribed; manual machining involves special one-off parts or prototype parts.
Job Responsibilities:

  • Studies blueprints, sketches, drawing and specifications.
  • Set-up bore gauges and other inspection equipment.
  • Complete all required paperwork including labor reporting and documentation of quality control and material movement.
  • Work safely and maintain the work area with high standards of housekeeping.
  • Performs required Preventative Maintenance activities on machinery and/or equipment operated.
  • Performs manual machining and CNC machining under the direction of Machinist Journeyman or Supervisor
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Supervision.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • E.D. or High School Diploma
Requirements: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
  • Knowledge and experience of machining practices and techniques
  • Basic Mechanical principles
  • Shop mathematics
  • Blueprint reading
  • Standing for extended periods of time, bending, reaching sitting, medium to heavy lifting (medium = 50 pounds maximum/25 pounds frequently, heavy = 100 pounds maximum/50 pounds frequently), visual acuity, and hand dexterity
  • Knowledge of CNC controls
  • Forklift operation experience
  • Knowledge of precision measuring tools
Working Conditions:
  • Typical hours of work Monday through Friday; 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • Weekend hours as necessary
