The Lead Automation Engineer identifies and implements solutions (hardware and software) for improvement of the high-quality automation infrastructure. This role will focus on leveraging RPA technology to enhance operational efficiency, reduce manual processes, and improve accuracy in insurance claims processing, policy management, and other key areas. A strong background in business process management (BPM) within the healthcare insurance industry is preferred.

We are seeking an experienced Lead Automation Engineer within the Intelligent Robotic Process Automation (iRPA) Team to drive innovation and optimize our business processes. The Lead Automation Engineer designs, programs, simulates, and tests automated processes, and is responsible for detailed design specifications and other documents. A major facet is ability to learn and support both custom built and vendor-sourced platform solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead Initiatives: Direct the design, development, and deployment of RPA solutions to streamline and automate insurance-related processes, such as claims processing, policy administration, and customer service operations.
  2. Technical Leadership: Provide expert guidance and mentorship to a team of RPA developers, ensuring adherence to best practices, coding standards, and RPA governance. Enable multiple active development teams by establishing secure and performant automations through efficient platform administration.
  3. Solution Design: Architect and implement RPA workflows, ensuring robust integration with existing systems, databases, and applications used within the Insurance domain.
  4. Process Optimization: Collaborate with stakeholders including claims adjusters, workforce management, and other IT teams to evaluate process improvement opportunities. Utilize BPM methodologies and workflow orchestration to map, analyze, and enhance business processes.
  5. Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with business units (e.g. claims, access management, and customer service) to understand their needs and translate them into actionable solutions.
  6. Quality Assurance: Oversee testing and validation of RPA solutions, ensuring they meet industry standards for accuracy, compliance, and performance.
  7. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all RPA solutions comply with healthcare regulations and industry standards, including data privacy laws such as HIPAA.
  8. Continuous Improvement: Keep up-to-date with advancements in RPA technology and BPM practices. Proactively recommend and implement enhancements to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of automation efforts.

Required Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  2. 8 or more years of technical experience in RPA development
  3. 2 or more years of project leadership experience
  4. Proven track record of applying BPM methodologies to analyze and enhance processes. Experience within the healthcare insurance sector is preferred
  5. Demonstrated ability to lead projects, manage teams, and effectively communicate with cross-functional stakeholders
  6. Strong analytical skills with a focus on developing solutions that drive operational efficiency and accuracy
  7. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
  8. Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Master's Degree
  2. Advanced certifications in RPA (e.g., UiPath, Blue Prism, Automation Anywhere) and BPM (e.g. Appian, Pega) are advantageous.
  3. Familiarity with major cloud providers like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform, including services such as S3 or Azure DevOps.

Pay Range

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc. $115,300 - $158,600 per year. This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan based on company and/or individual performance.
