PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The Assistant Regional Director, Leadership Engagement plays a pivotal role in identifying, recruiting, and nurturing leaders who are dedicated to advancing the mission and goals of ADL in the Midwest Region (northern IL, IN, IA, western KS, MN, NE, ND, SD, and WI). This includes managing volunteer engagement in the region, including the Midwest Regional and Associate Boards, supporting local Leadership Councils in the region, recruiting for and overseeing ADL’s Glass Leadership Institute (GLI) program, identifying and helping recruit for national leadership opportunities, and overseeing volunteer leadership committees.

Responsibilities:

Primary:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for leadership engagement within the Midwest Region, aligning it with ADL’s mission and objectives driven by the division and national leadership teams.
  • Partner with Midwest colleagues to identify and prioritize opportunities for leaders to contribute to regional initiatives and goals.
  • Oversee, coordinate, and implement leadership engagement initiatives like GLI, ensuring their effectiveness, relevance, and alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Ensure continuity and collaboration among volunteer leaders across the Midwest Region, including between our Midwest Regional Board in Chicago and local Leadership Councils in Indianapolis, Minneapolis/St. Paul, and Omaha.
  • Manage and promote national leadership opportunities such as the Global Leadership Council (GLC), National Commission (NC), Never is Now (NIN), and others. Coordinate the selection process and support the participation of regional leaders in these events.
  • Manage the Midwest Board Engagement and Nominating Committees and any other relevant volunteer engagement committees.

Secondary:

  • Support non-Chicago Midwest markets in local Leadership Council and volunteer engagement activities, helping to ensure that they are impactful and effective.
  • Working with regional and divisional ADL staff, ensure we create volunteer engagement opportunities throughout our work.

Qualifications:

Skills:

  • Proven experience in identifying, nurturing, and developing leadership potential.
  • Strong strategic planning and problem-solving skills to drive leadership engagement initiatives.
  • Effective program management skills to oversee multiple leadership development initiatives simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to engage and inspire leaders.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, board members, and external partners.
  • This role requires an individual who is communicative, responsive, and dedicated to fostering positive relationships with stakeholders, ensuring that every interaction contributes to our mission and values.

Work Experience:

  • The ideal candidate has experience with leadership development, program management, board management, or a related role.
  • Experience working with board committees and cultivating relationships with leaders in the nonprofit sector is a plus.
  • Experience with and knowledge of Leadership Development programs.
  • The ideal candidate will possess exceptional customer service skills, with a strong emphasis on being the front-facing representative of our organization.
  • Adept at engaging with all levels of leadership, demonstrating the utmost professionalism and courtesy as part of our commitment to excellence in stewardship.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, or equivalent experience required.

Work Environment:

  • ADL is a hybrid environment; this role may require 3 days in the office.

Compensation:

  • This position has a salary range of $56,000 to $68,000. This salary range is reflective of a position based in Chicago, IL. Please note that actual salaries are commensurate with experience and reflect the budget for a given position, and since ADL has a location-based compensation structure, there may be a different range for candidates in other locations.
