  • They will achieve the resort's financial objectives for group and private events through department planning and direct sales efforts.
  • Direct the workflow of assigned markets to reach departmental and hotel performance goals.
  • Works collaboratively with the sales team to ensure sales efforts are coordinated and not duplicated.
  • Provide sales leadership and insight on the RFP process representing a holistic view of the needs of the hotel.
  • Builds and strengthens relationships with existing and new customers to enable future bookings. Activities include but are not limited to sales calls, entertainment, FAM trips, tradeshows etc.
  • Develop relationships within the travel community to strengthen and expand the customer base for sales opportunities.
  • Manages and develops relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Conduct business performance evaluations, resolve problems, provide open communication, and recommend discipline when appropriate.
  • Ensure company performance standards are met.
  • Organize and/or lead scheduled Sales Department and related meetings.
  • Direct the preparation of reports pertaining to the operation of the Sales Department to include, but not limited to; the annual and monthly forecast, sales tactical planning, Lead management system, booking PACE reporting, STR report analysis and submitting weekly activity tracking with commentary.
  • Coordinate ongoing research of the travel industry to detect market trends and related information for the development of new direct sales strategies. Make reasonable recommendations to improve potential from existing and emerging markets.
  • Establish themselves as subject matter experts; serve the property by understanding the Market, business issues, and concerns to offer better business solutions to the operation.
  • Represent Lake Austin Spa Resort to the group travel markets to increase market penetration and exceed revenue targets.
  • Develop and conduct persuasive verbal sales presentations to prospective clients.
  • Meet with and entertain clients, some of which will require travel.
  • Establish themselves as a Lake Austin Spa Resort ambassador; serve the customers by understanding their business, business issues, and concerns to offer better business solutions.
  • Supports the company’s service and relationship strategy, driving customer loyalty by delivering service excellence throughout each customer experience.
  • Provides excellent customer service consistent with the daily service of the company.
  • Communicate verbally and in writing to provide clear directions to the staff.
  • Works collaboratively with the Marketing team to promote initiatives.
  • Initiate the preparation of a computerized annual Sales and marketing Plan and execute the plans as outlined, critically examining and adjusting as deemed necessary by current market conditions.
  • Comply with attendance rules and be available to work regularly.
  • Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.

Skills/Knowledge Required

  • Highly motivated individual who can work independently.
  • Ability to handle confidential information discretely and in the proper manner.
  • Self-starter and possess excellent presentation skills.
  • Proven track record of successful sales history.

Qualification Standards

Education: 4-year bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel and Restaurant Management or related major preferred.

Experience: 3-5 years sales director experience selling a luxury hotel.

Grooming: All colleagues must maintain a professional, neat, and well-groomed appearance (specific standards will be provided).

Travel Requirements: This Sales Director position has a requirement for business travel.
