Your Role

The Foundation is an independent licensee of the Blue Shield Association. Blue Shield of California has contributed more than $500 million to Blue Shield of California Foundation since 2002 to have a positive impact on California communities. Our mission is to build lasting and equitable solutions that make California the healthiest state and end domestic violence. The Program Coordinator will report to the Foundation's Program Operations Manager. In this role, you will be responsible for the execution of assigned projects, activities, and programs which aid in the grantmaking and contracts process. This is currently a hybrid position and subject to change based on business needs. Reporting Location: This position will require the new hire to report to our San Francisco office as needed - the number of days to be determined. The Foundation reserves the right to change the reporting location and number of days based on business needs.

Your Work

In this role, you will:

  1. Be responsible for the execution of assigned projects, activities, and programs that support grantmaking and contracts.
  2. Ensure submitted grant proposals are complete and all appropriate documentation is included.
  3. Track grantee reporting and ensure report submission by the scheduled due date(s).
  4. Responsible for contract management (e.g., tracking contract budget and expenditures, data entry, processing amendments).
  5. Track quarterly docket timelines to ensure deadlines are met.
  6. Provide scheduling support for a minimum of four senior-level Program staff.
  7. Work collaboratively to manage project plans, timelines, and proactively recommend mitigation strategies as needed.
  8. Act as the first point of contact for new grantees/consultants and respond to questions appropriately and promptly to ensure a positive relationship between external audiences and the Foundation.
  9. Accurately enter data and track projects in appropriate Foundation system(s) (e.g., Fluxx, Salesforce, Asana, and/or other platforms).
  10. Ensure all new grantees/consultants are set up in Foundation systems and provide technical assistance as needed. Uses strong interpersonal skills to address and resolve challenges or issues with external partners.
  11. Perform general administrative duties as needed, including supporting our grantmaking staff with scheduling meetings related to our grantmaking portfolio and logistics associated with grantee-related meetings and events. Other support may include special ad hoc projects and additional admin tasks as needed.

Your Knowledge and Experience

  1. Requires a college degree or equivalent experience.
  2. Requires at least 1-year prior relevant experience of project coordination and project management.
  3. Broad theoretical job knowledge typically obtained through advanced education or experience.
  4. Experience with nonprofit organizations, community-based or philanthropic organizations, or public institutions and knowledge of grantmaking is a plus.
  5. Ability to learn and use cloud-based business systems (e.g., Asana, Fluxx, Salesforce).
  6. Intermediate-level knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  7. Strong interpersonal skills to be able to interface effectively with a broad range of internal and external partners.
  8. Demonstrate critical thinking skills and strong written and verbal communication skills.

Pay Range: The pay range for this role is $27.94 to $39.11 for California.

Blue Shield salaries are based on a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, location (California, Bay area, or outside California), and current employee salaries for similar roles.
