Compensation :

$85,000 - 110,000/year


Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.


Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching. Minimum Requirements:

  • 2+ years’ experience as an Electrical Engineer or Aerospace Engineer
  • Understand standards:
  • UL, IEEE, ANSI, IEC
  • Experts in wiring / cable
  • Over mold assemblies
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Medium voltage (MV), DC, PV harnesses
  • Strong documentation: Installation procedures, white papers (technical papers)
  • Comfortable working onsite full time

Description:

Insight Global is assisting a client with a identifying a Solar Product Engineer for a direct hire opportunity in Chapel Hill, NC. The Product Engineer will be a central figure in the development, optimization, and implementation of our PV harness, cable, and MV wire products. You will collaborate extensively across various departments and with external partners to ensure our products meet the highest standards of quality, efficiency, and sustainability. This role requires a strong understanding of the entire product lifecycle and the ability to navigate complex technical challenges alongside a diverse team. This may include serial deflects, working through standards such as UL or NRTLs to improve current designs, assisting with developing new designs, as well as partnering with marketing to update data sheets catalogs and installation manuals. Overall, this engineer will own the process and resolution of high-level claims with require in depth analysis and complexity.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with Design Engineers to translate customer requirements and market trends into detailed product specifications and designs that adhere to industry standards (e.g., UL, IEEE, ANSI, IEC).
  • Work closely with Quality Engineers to implement rigorous testing protocols and quality control measures throughout the product development process.
  • Provide technical expertise and support to Estimators and Sales teams during the bidding and proposal process.
  • Collaborate with Project Management and Construction Site Crews to ensure seamless product integration and provide on-site technical support as needed.
  • Partner with Testing Laboratories to conduct necessary product testing, certifications, and validations for market entry and compliance.
  • Assist O&M Technicians with technical guidance on product installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Work with Logistics and Production teams to streamline manufacturing processes and ensure on-time product delivery.
  • Foster relationships with industry experts and stakeholders across various regions to stay informed about market trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes impacting the solar wiring industry.
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives, leveraging feedback from clients and industry partners to enhance product performance and customer satisfaction.
