We are seeking a dedicated and flexible individual to join our team in a part-time capacity. This position offers a maximum of 25 hours per week, with hours varying each week depending on the specific job or bus assignment.
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Performs onboard passenger counts, performs checks and counts at stops and intersections, and conducts surveys; generates reports and performs a variety of duties related to the distribution of maps and schedules; and performs related duties as assigned. This position will support a safety and customer service culture through programs, procedures, and other related work to achieve TARC's mission and strategic outcomes. The position is responsible for meeting or exceeding all TARC policies and procedures with strict adherence to all local, state, and federal regulations.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
None.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Conducts onboard passenger counts, surveys, and corner checks.
  • Generates ride-check schedules and coordinates tasks with other team members.
  • Conducts onboard passenger surveys and organizes survey data.
  • Supports activities for schedule and service change; inventories and places driver run guides in numerical order; prepares run guides for use by drivers; delivers maps, schedules, and other items to various locations in the TARC service area.
  • Supports activities for posting schedules/schedule displays.
  • Performs various administrative duties which include data entry and copying or printing various planning and scheduling materials; conducts accurate counts for various services.
  • Performs other job-related duties as requested.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or GED
Licenses and Certifications:
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Kentucky or Indiana Driver's License by the time of appointment and a satisfactory driving record.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Clerical practices and procedures.
  • Basic recordkeeping principles and practice.
  • Research and reporting methods, techniques, and procedures.
  • Various federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations relevant to the work performed.
  • Principles and practices of customer service.
  • Principles and techniques for working with groups and fostering effective team interaction to ensure teamwork is conducted smoothly.
  • The structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
  • Modern equipment and communication tools used for business functions and program, project, and task coordination.
  • Computers and software programs (e.g., Microsoft software packages) to conduct research, assess information, and/or prepare documentation.
  • Organize and maintain accurate files and records.
  • Make accurate arithmetic calculations.
  • Research and compile a variety of information and material.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, using appropriate English grammar and syntax.
  • Deal tactfully and effectively with persons contacted in the course of work, including those of diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of business including other employees, managers, executives, vendors/ consultants/ contractors, and members of the public.
  • Effectively use computer systems, applications, and modern business equipment to perform a variety of work tasks.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Incumbents generally work outdoors, on TARC buses, or in a typical office environment with adequate light and temperature. However, work is also performed outdoors, regardless of the weather, where the incumbents will be exposed to diesel fumes and/or airborne particles. This position requires a pre-employment screening. Incumbents must be willing to work flexible schedules, including evenings, nights, and weekends.
