Job Description
Propulsion Plant Team Trainer (PPTT) Hardware Engineering (PHE) is a multi-site unit responsible for the design, development, and delivery of the S9G Simulation Suite to support the Next Generation Training Program (NGTP). Our focus is centered on Integration to ensure that all aspects of the Interactive Training Equipment (ITE) come together in a first-of-a-kind product that transforms Navy training for decades to come.
An exciting opportunity is now available for an entry-level multidisciplined engineer to support these integration efforts throughout the hardware project life cycle including design, fabrication, installation, and test. Based on the nature of the Integration effort which includes the holistic physical training envelope, supporting structure, and support systems, this is an outstanding opening for an engineer interested in engineering compliance. On top of that, this is a perfect time to join the team as PPTT Integration Design gets kicked off! This posting is open to Engineers willing to work at either the Bettis Site (PA) or the Kesselring Site (NY).
The successful candidate for this position will:
• Plan and conduct independent work efforts throughout the project lifecycle
• Interface with stakeholders to ensure project objectives are being met
• Review, understand, and apply relevant civil or fire protection engineering codes and standards
• Support design reviews and technical interchanges with Suppliers
• Review and disposition Supplier design submittals to validate designs based on technical requirements
• Support on-site hardware inspections of production equipment at Supplier facilities
Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill
Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field; or Master's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field.
Preferred Skills
Prior experience with SolidWorks or equivalent 3D modeling software
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Prior experience with code compliance including fire protection or civil engineering disciplines
Ability to think creatively and make recommendations to senior project personnel
Prior experience evaluating designs against approved technical requirements

Pay Range
$62,000.00 - $94,900.00 annually

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is operated for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) by Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC (FMP), a wholly owned subsidiary of Fluor Corporation.
