Job Summary:

Expands the company’s use of technology to enable and achieve the organization’s goals and objectives. Strategically designs, develops, and implements technology models for the entire Marriott Associate App ecosystem and stack. Works within Product Squads (teams) and receives direction from Product Owner and engineering lead to develop solutions in accordance with technology roadmaps. Provides inputs to technology roadmaps. Governs and reviews the output of the managed Service Providers who are responsible for the actual hands-on delivery of services, managing outcomes and results. Ability to get hands-on with troubleshooting and diagnosing issues with designed systems.

Candidate Profile

Education and Experience

Required:

  1. Minimum 5+ years’ experience creating Architecture roadmaps and operational models that span the Technology, Application and Data layers for complex, high-available systems in Linux, Windows, Mobile, COTS, and/or Cloud-based environments.

Preferred:

  1. Experience authoring IT standards, frameworks and patterns across the Technology, Application and Data architecture domains.
  2. Experience in developing and implementing strategic IT technologies and related processes, procedures, and decision support.
  3. Experience with business requirements gathering/analysis.
  4. In-depth technical experience with network, PC, and platform operating systems.
  5. Excellent technical knowledge of current systems software, protocols, and standards.
  6. Expert knowledge of programming languages.
  7. Experience in varied technologies (e.g., client server architecture, mobile infrastructures, enterprise and workgroup server platforms, Web applications, etc.).
  8. Experience in project definition and management.
  9. Extensive experience in multiple technical infrastructure design areas and in technology management.
  10. Experience in core enterprise applications, application development tools.
  11. Knowledge of software evaluation principles and practices.
  12. Project planning and management experience.
  13. Excellent understanding of change management and testing requirements, techniques, and tools.
  14. Ability to create constructive relationships, influence, and communicate (to project team, IT management, and non-technical staff).
  15. Ability to lead complex, cross-functional problem-solving initiatives.
  16. Experience in researching emerging technologies and trends, standards, and products.

Core Work Activities

Managing the Day-To-Day

  1. Develops long-term strategic goals for architecture vision and standards in conjunction with users, product managers, clients, and other key stakeholders.
  2. Assesses and determines governance, stewardship, and frameworks across the organization.
  3. Collaborates with 3rd parties to create short-term tactical solutions to achieve long-term objectives and an overall architecture roadmap.
  4. Conducts capacity planning, life cycle, duration, usage requirements, feasibility studies, and other tasks.
  5. Ensures solutions comply with industry standards, best practices, and regulatory requirements.
  6. Troubleshoots issues that arise during development and post-deployment.

Developing and Maintaining Requirements and Standards

  1. Develops and promotes architecture methodologies and standards.
  2. Defines requirements to implement the appropriate tools, software, applications, and systems to support technology goals.
  3. Defines requirements for tracking data quality, completeness, redundancy, and improvement in collaboration with the Service Providers.
  4. Defines requirements to address issues in regards to systems integration, compatibility, and multiple-platform integration.
  5. Defines requirements to develop and implement key components as needed to create testing criteria in order to guarantee the fidelity and performance of architecture.
  6. Documents architectures and environments in order to maintain a current and accurate technology view.
  7. Defines requirements to verify that strategies and architectures are in regulatory compliance.
