Position Title: Lecturer
Salary Range: The UC academic salary scales set the minimum pay at appointment. A reasonable estimate for Lecturer positions is $68,247-$97,305 (full-time rate). For specific salary scales, see the following table: Salary Scales .
Percent Time: 17% to 100% per term depending on need.
Anticipated Start: Positions usually start in July/August for Fall and January for Spring Semesters, various times throughout the summer.
Review Timeline: Applications are typically reviewed for summer session course needs in March, fall course needs in April, and in October for spring course needs. Applicants are considered for positions as needs arise.

Position Description
The Interdisciplinary Social Sciences Program at UC Berkeley offers an interdisciplinary undergraduate major in Political Economy. The Political Economy Program invites applicants to apply to a pool of qualified temporary instructors.
Duties of the Position: Teaching one or more of the following courses:
- Classical Theories of Political Economy
- Contemporary Theories of Political Economy
- Special topics in Political Economy, such as finance, development, globalization, inequality, poverty, and policy-related issues
- World History: a survey course in modern world history, with an emphasis on Political Economy
- Regional courses that address Political Economy themes
- Interdisciplinary approaches to Political Economy
- Development Studies
- Critical Thinking and/or Theories and Methods courses
- Thesis writing courses
In addition to teaching responsibilities, general duties may include holding office hours, assigning grades, advising students, preparing course materials, writing exams, and managing teaching assistants.

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications: PhD (or equivalent international degree), or enrolled in PhD or equivalent international degree-granting program at the time of application.
Additional Qualifications: PhD (or equivalent international degree) required at time of start.
Preferred Qualifications: PhD in fields related to Political Economy, academic experience with interdisciplinary approaches, and a commitment to undergraduate teaching.
