Who We Seek

Playboy is seeking a dedicated Senior Backend Engineer to join our team! In this role, you will play a major role in designing, implementing, and maintaining SQL databases, RESTful APIs, and back-end systems. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to create scalable services and facilitate web applications that deliver exceptional user experiences.

What You’ll Do - Job Responsibilities

  • Communicate regularly with stakeholders, project managers, quality assurance teams, and other developers regarding progress on long-term technology roadmap.
  • Create and maintain workflows with teams to provide visibility and to ensure workload balance.
  • Develop and oversee testing to maintain integrity of our financial systems at scale.
  • Architect and implement systems solutions utilizing both in-house development and alternatives from external vendors.

What You’ll Bring - Qualifications And Skills

  • 6+ years of professional software development experience.
  • 6+ years of programming experience with at least one modern language such as Ruby, Python, JavaScript, Go, or Rust.
  • 5+ years of experience contributing to architecture and design of new and current systems.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field, or 5-8 + additional years of relevant work experience.
  • Strong knowledge of computer science fundamentals in data structures and algorithm design.
  • Familiarity with modern infrastructure tools, such as Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform.
  • Timely communication and responsiveness to peers and management.
  • Solid understanding of infrastructure design, including the operational trade-offs of various designs.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Familiarity with modern CI/CD practices and build systems, such as CircleCI and GitHub Actions
  • Proven experience with Unix/Linux environments
  • Must have unrestricted access to work in the U.S.

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be $140,000 - $200,000 annually, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
