Senior RF Electronics Engineer - Space Team

We've partnered with a startup focused on advancing the next generation of RF products and services for the most demanding space and defense missions.

RF Electronics Engineers will lead the design, manufacturing, testing, and deployment of integrated RF devices for space customers. Working closely with software, hardware, and FPGA engineers, you'll take a full-stack approach to develop robust space communication systems from concept to vehicle integration.

Responsibilities

  • Perform trade studies and analysis on system architecture and component selection.
  • Collaborate with digital electronics engineers to integrate analog and digital domains.
  • Design for space-grade performance, meeting acceptance, qualification, and compliance standards, and develop test plans for qualification campaigns.
  • Coordinate with the supply chain to enable rapid manufacturing and iteration of devices.
  • Troubleshoot and validate RF PCBA designs.
  • Test and validate RF performance metrics in new designs.

Requirements

  • Proven expertise in the full PCB design process using Altium, including schematic capture, layout, fabrication, and assembly.
  • Proficiency with electronic design tools like Keysight ADS, Ansys HFSS, and Altium Designer.
  • Deep understanding of RF metrics, including S-parameters, P1dB, noise figure, channel power, and EVM.
  • Experience with components like low noise amplifiers, power amplifiers, mixers, ADCs/DACs, PLLs, oscillators, and filters.
  • Experience working with digital-analog conversion interfaces like AD9361 and Xilinx RFSoC.
  • Skilled in soldering and reworking small components (0402 SMP, QFN packages).
  • Experience with communications link modeling and a solid grasp of DSP fundamentals.
  • Knowledge of antenna design, simulation, and measurement in near-field/far-field regimes.
  • Familiarity with high-PAPR signals and DPD concepts.
