A Day in the Life at MKS:We are looking for an exceptional machinist who can support our R&D and Engineering operations at our Beaverton, OR location. The ideal candidate will be a full-time team member in our dedicated model shop. Our operation is a non-production, high-mix, low-volume prototype environment that requires constant interaction with engineering teams to produce parts of the highest quality. In this role, you will be using CNC and manual lathes, mills, press brakes, shears, and generic machine shop supporting equipment.You will Make an Impact By:Primary work output is quick-turn machined parts, sheet metal parts, & reworks.Job preparation including studying drawings and CADD models for selecting proper process and machinery.Feedback to engineering and designers for project feasibility, cost savings, and efficiency suggestions.Demonstrating self-sufficiency throughout the whole process, starting with material, tooling, measuring instruments and supplies procurement, fixture and jig making, machining, and working with vendors for secondary and finishing operations that cannot be performed internally.Multi-tasking several jobs at once often with different priority levels.Weekly coordination meetings with Model Shop customers and daily meetings with manager.Skills you Bring:Preferred Education – Degree and/or Certificates from Trade School or College in Machine Tool Technology.Experience – 10 years of applicable experience preferred.Special Skills and Abilities:Setup and operation of CNC mills and lathes, i.e., Hurco, Haas, Lagun with WinMax, Fanuc, ProtoTRACK controllers.Setup and operation of manual mills and lathes, i.e., Bridgeport, Hardinge and all shop supporting equipment.Supplemental skills require basic sheet metal fabrication to perform modifications of existing product.Interpret drawings and CADD models.Expert in GD&T and G&M codes.Proficient in CAD (Siemens NX) and CAM (Autodesk Fusion 360).Basic metallurgy and materials properties knowledge with regards to machining parameters.Senior-level experience in shop metrology.Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software knowledge.Excellent communicator, problem solver, team player, and customer service oriented.#LI-KF1Globally, our policy is to recruit individuals from wide and diverse backgrounds.
