Summary

The Municipal Account Manager (MAM) will support the Government Affairs (GA) team in administering services according to designated franchise agreements. They will report to the Director of Program Compliance & Outreach.

Job Description

  1. Support GA in collaborating with city staff on the administration of the contract. This includes managing contractual city services, working with the operations team on illegal hauling activity, and other initiatives as assigned.
  2. Manage major accounts within the company’s franchise areas. This includes School Districts. Provide account support (including, but not limited to): set up and oversee accounts; increase/decrease service; identify waste problem areas; conduct onsite waste assessments; determine container types, sizes, and locations; establish a collection schedule; and identify employee training needs.
  3. Assist in the collection of delinquent payments for assigned major accounts.
  4. Meet with all new customers within the company’s franchise areas to describe available services, including available recycling and diversion programs to comply with mandatory legislation; provide instructions for proper use of the carts and bins and provide billing and customer service information.
  5. Evaluate effectiveness of customer recycling practices and programs, identify opportunities and strategies to increase waste diversion, and help customers set goals for future diversion practices.
  6. Support the outreach team by educating customers on the latest recycling mandates (i.e. SB 1383, AB 1826, AB 341, etc.).
  7. Participate in public education and outreach activities including presentations, workshops, trainings, tabling events and other events as directed. Availability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
  8. Interact directly and maintain effective working relationships with business owners, management companies, maintenance companies and staff, residents, homeowners’ associations, community groups, multifamily complexes and businesses, and the general public.
  9. Actively engage with local Chambers of Commerce and Business Associations as directed.
  10. Work cross functionally with other departments: Customer Service, Operations, Finance, Collections, Outreach, etc.
  11. Other special assignments as directed by Management.

Required Qualifications:

  1. High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
  2. Excellent written and oral communication skills
  3. Microsoft Office proficient (including Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  4. Proven ability of effectively managing client relationships
  5. Interact effectively with individuals from diverse social, cultural, and economic backgrounds
  6. Ability to often travel to surrounding Los Angeles City and County areas
  7. Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. A general understanding of: applicable federal, state and local legislation and regulations related to materials management; general terminology regarding waste, recycling, resource management, and zero waste; product characterization and materials identification; extended producer responsibility
  2. Bilingual (i.e. Spanish, Korean, Chinese, etc.)
  3. Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
  4. Experience in CRM Databases (i.e. Softpak) and sales related software (i.e. Salesforce)
  5. Certification, training, and experience in recycling and materials management

Physical/Environmental Demands:

  1. Physical:
    • Driving, seeing, & hearing continuously.
    • Oral/Written communication, analytical abilities, calculating, problem solving continuously.
    • Walking, standing, & sitting frequently.
    • Reaching, crouching, stooping, bending, & lifting less than or equal to 50 Lbs. occasionally.
    • Eye/hand coordination continuously.
    • Fingering (typing, picking), holding (grasping), feet (foot pedals), wrist motion (flexion/rotation) frequently.
  2. Environmental:
    • Exposure to dust, smoke, fumes, odors, grease, oil, noise, chemicals frequently.
    • Exposure to outside elements (hot/cold/rain conditions) frequently.
    • Walking on potential slippery surfaces occasionally.
    • Works inside and outside.

Salary: $66,560 - $82,822
