Description
The Semel Institute is seeking to hire a full-time Statistician for a 1-year contract. In this role, you would assist with data construction, data management, and statistical analysis for the research done by the teams of the Cousin Center. Primary job duties include collaborating with staff or faculty on data management, data quality control, statistical modeling, designing study databases, and applying skills in statistical analyses. You'll collaborate with others to provide tailored statistical analysis, formulate statistical sections for manuscripts and grant applications, and summarize statistical findings.
Duties can include:
- Assisting with the design and construction of databases for the purpose of research projects and clinical trials.
- Monitoring and coordinating data collection and providing critical feedback for improvement.
- Providing support on statistical analyses for use in reports, presentations, and manuscripts.
- Providing advisory services in the use and interpretation of statistical analyses on research projects, clinical trials, grants, proposals, and consultation services.
- Collaborating with senior staff or faculty on the design of research projects.
- Assisting with the preparation of submissions of clinical data and trial statistical analyses to regulatory agencies (e.g., FDA).
- Assisting faculty with the design of a statistical analysis strategy to support research project goals.
- Creating tables, graphs, and dashboards that display statistical results and findings for use in research projects, clinical trials, grants, proposals, and consultation services.
- Assisting with the preparation of professional presentations to communicate the results of statistical analyses to Principal Investigators and non-statistical collaborators.
- Monitoring and coordinating data collection.
- Providing feedback for improvement.
- Assisting with the development of documentation and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies (e.g., IRB, Standard Operating Procedures, validation trackers, and query systems).

Pay Range: $32.95 - $67.53 hourly
Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in Statistics/Computer Science/Bioinformatics/Data Specification/Data Science/Computational or equivalent experience. Required
- 1-2 years of experience in Statistics/Computer Science/Bioinformatics/Data Specification/Data Science.
- Knowledge of basic and multivariate statistics. Required
- Knowledge of research design. Required
- Competency in statistical software applications (e.g., R, SAS, STATA). Required
- Ability to conceptualize and construct tables and graphs. Required
- Working knowledge of statistical and/or medical terminology. Required
- Ability to summarize statistical analyses for collaborators. Required
- Knowledge of statistical techniques. Required
- Ability to utilize database management software to run queries and extract data. Required
- Ability to construct databases. Required
- Ability to produce visual tools and dashboards that highlight the essential information from a project or study. Required
- Knowledge of basic office software and applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Google, Internet search engines, etc.). Required
- Ability to learn new statistical techniques and to adapt existing code to customize statistical analysis strategies. Required
