Purpose of the Position:
The CommercialCredit Analyst is responsible for conducting credit investigations, preparing,and interpreting financial statements, and analyzing routine credit informationrelated to commercial loan requests. Operating under close supervision, thisrole assists in compiling and presenting credit information to commercial loanofficers and banking committees, while providing critical support in thedecision-making process for new, renewal, and extension loans. Additionally,this role involves maintaining up-to-date credit files, conducting collateralinspections, and staying informed on industry trends.
Essential Functions:

  • Successfully completes Phase I of the BDP, demonstrating an understanding of core banking functions and credit analysis principles.
  • Gathers credit information from various sources, including credit bureaus, reporting services, bank references, and internal credit records.
  • Compiles and organizes relevant data to aid in lending decisions on new, renewal, and extension loans.
  • Spreads and analyzes financial statements and related materials under supervision.
  • Prepares summaries and presents information, occasionally offering opinions on creditworthiness.
  • Provides credit information and references to customers, loan officers, and other agencies as requested.
  • Ensures all credit files are current, maintaining the latest financial statements and agency reports.
  • Assists in compiling minutes for Officers' and Directors' Loan Committee meetings.
  • Attends and participates in various committee meetings, contributing insights as needed.
  • Supports loan officers with collateral inspections, ensuring that the collateral backing loans is accurately evaluated and documented.
  • Keeps abreast of current industry trends by maintaining peer relationships, attending seminars and workshops, and reading relevant industry periodicals.
  • Undertakes additional duties and responsibilities as requested by supervisors, contributing to the overall success of the credit team.
  • This position may require travel within the Bank's geographic area.
Experience & Education:
  • 0-2 years of experience in commercial credit analysis or a related area. Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures in commercial credit is essential.
  • Demonstrated above-average interpersonal skills and a strong self-motivation to work effectively in an on-the-job training environment is a plus.
  • Bachelor's Degree, including at least 9 credit hours in Accounting and 12 credit hours in Finance.
Skills & Qualifications:
  • Ability to spread and analyze financial statements, identifying key trends and risks.
  • Strong attention to detail in the collection, organization, and analysis of credit information.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear and concise summaries and reports.
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows, Word, and Excel; prior experience with financial analysis software; preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • A strong drive to learn and develop within an on-the-job training environment.
  • Well-developed organizational abilities to manage and maintain current credit files.
  • High standard of ethical behavior in handling sensitive financial information.
  • Flexibility in assuming additional responsibilities and adjusting to changing priorities.
Other Requirements:
  • Requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull weights or otherwise move objects weighing as much as 10 lbs. on a regular basis and/or for extended periods of time during the workday.
  • Occasional overtime or extended hours may be required.
