Job Description:

The Manager of Data Engineering role is organizationally under Finance & Accounting, within the Decision Support Tower. This role will report into the Business Intelligence & Advanced Analytics space. The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in data engineering, showcasing expertise in cloud technologies, data architecture, data modeling, data pipeline development, and data governance.

This position leads the development of batch and real-time data pipelines utilizing various data analytics processing frameworks in support of data science, advanced analytics, machine learning, and AI practices. It leads and participates in the integration of data from various internal and external sources, performs extract, transform, load (ETL), data conversions, and facilitates data cleansing and enrichment. This position also manages projects within the department and supports Leadership by planning and championing the execution of broad advanced analytics initiatives aimed at delivering value to internal and external stakeholders.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Leads the development and design of data engineering projects and guides the team to build solutions by leveraging software/application solutions used for statistical modeling and analysis, data warehousing and cloud solutions, and building data pipelines.
  2. Provides leadership for data engineering projects and maintenance and support.
  3. Recommends analytic reporting tools/technologies and leads the adoption of emerging technology products and tools.
  4. Directs integration of data for data engineering projects.
  5. Leads project efforts with technology solutions to perform proof of concept (POC) analysis.
  6. Leads the team to provide data warehousing solutions.
  7. Guides the team to organize data for reporting, analytics, and data mining.
  8. Guides the team in building Data APIs to enable data scientists and business intelligence analysts to query the data.
  9. Conducts code reviews developed in programming languages used for statistical analysis and modeling such as Python, R, SQL, Java, Scala, or C++.
  10. Leads the implementation strategy and backup and recovery procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Strong background in managing data transformation programs, showcasing expertise in navigating data landscapes, implementing innovative solutions, and driving tangible business outcomes.
  2. Experience in developing and implementing both tactical and strategic solutions, demonstrating the ability to address immediate needs while contributing to long-term organizational goals.
  3. Strong understanding of data life cycle stages - data collection, transformation, analysis, secure storage, and providing data accessibility.
  4. Strong understanding of the data environment to ensure scalability for throughput of data, increasing data pipeline throughput, analyzing large amounts of data, real-time predictions, insights, customer feedback, data security, and compliance.
  5. Evaluates and provides guidance on analytic reporting technologies (Preferred experience in Power BI, SAS, Looker, Alteryx, and/or similar tools).
  6. Strong experience in Cloud services platform tech stack (Preferred experience in Google Cloud Platform, Google BigQuery, Vertex AI, Gemini AI) and all data life cycle stages.
  7. Minimum 3-5 years of managerial experience is required.
  8. Understanding of machine learning algorithms which help data scientists make predictions based on current and historical data.
  9. Knowledge of algorithms and data structures with the ability to perform data filtering and optimization.
  10. A Bachelor’s degree in MIS, mathematics, statistics, or computer science, international equivalent, or equivalent job experience.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $116,600/year to $189,600/year, based on several factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, education/training, and a candidate’s work experience. Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position.
