Join the R.D. Barnett Team as a Tax Senior!

At R.D. Barnett, we’re on the hunt for a rockstar Tax Senior who’s ready to dive into the thrilling world of tax compliance and advisory services. If you’ve got a sharp eye for detail and a solid accounting background, we want YOU to be a key player on our dynamic team!

In this role, you’ll roll up your sleeves and tackle client assignments from day one—think hands-on experience that fuels your professional growth. You will collaborate with our crew and other talented folks to meet our clients' diverse tax needs with precision, all while building relationships that are rooted in trust and transparency.

We’re all about genuine connections and mutual respect, creating a culture where we lift each other up and celebrate our wins. As we expand, you’ll need to stay flexible—what’s needed today might change tomorrow. This means you’ll have the chance to step up, take on new challenges, and watch your responsibilities (and title) grow in line with your hard work and contributions.

Don’t worry if you don’t have all the answers right now; we’re looking for someone who’s eager to tackle problems head-on and find smart solutions. If you’re ready to make your mark and find lasting satisfaction in your work, we’re looking for someone who embodies these qualities:

  • Communicative: You are a confident and transparent communicator in every aspect with expert written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Organized: You know how to keep track of multiple projects, tasks, documents, and files, follow up on loose ends, and can readily locate a document or provide a status update.
  • Service-minded: You demonstrate a desire to deliver a superior customer experience and you don’t mind taking out the trash, both literally and figuratively.
  • Trustworthy: You have a high level of integrity, discretion, and good judgement, and you guard sensitive information more effectively than 256-bit encryption.
  • Self-motivated: You don’t need to be told to get things done and are confident in your ability to do some research to find an answer rather than simply asking for it.
  • Accountable: You understand that we’re all human and you are not afraid to own up to your mistakes, which you use as an opportunity to learn and grow.
  • Proactive: You’re always one step ahead because you’re an analytical thinker and can anticipate potential problems and needs, allowing you to be more efficient and provide better solutions.
  • Detail-oriented: You have impeccable documentation skills, a sharp eye, and never let anything slip through the cracks.
  • Flexible: You embrace change and are easily adaptable in a challenging, fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and enjoy learning new things.
  • Enthusiastic: You are a team player with a positive attitude who can take the work seriously but do it with a sense of humor.

What you'll be responsible for:

  • Overseeing tax compliance and preparation for primarily entity clients across various industries.
  • Conducting thorough tax research and offering strategic planning advice.
  • Reviewing and ensuring the accuracy of tax filings, including federal, state, and local returns.
  • Collaborating with clients and team members to deliver exceptional results.
  • Managing and mentoring junior staff as they grow in their roles.

Required Qualifications:

  • CPA license or CPA eligible with 3+ years of public accounting experience, including tax return preparation and review.
  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related degree and/or an advanced degree in Accounting or Taxation.
  • Ability to work up to 60 hours during peak periods.
  • References from prior employers/supervisors/clients.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive salary: $75,000-$100,000.
  • Casual office environment.
  • 15 Vacation days.
  • 10 Holidays (7 scheduled and 3 floating).
  • 40 Hours sick leave.
  • 2 Paid volunteer days.
  • 3% Retirement match.
  • Medical and dental benefits.
  • Cell phone coverage.
  • Certification, licensing, and professional membership reimbursement.
  • Continuing education and growth opportunities.

*Preference is a local hire in the Seattle area as we love seeing people at least occasionally in the office, but we are flexible and have remote team members!
