THE POSITION As a GENOMIC LAB TECHNICIAN you will work as part of the Genomic Lab team to fix, barcode, and/or sequence biological samples. In this role, you will use a wide range of laboratory techniques to perform our proprietary split-pool combinatorial barcoding protocol, ultimately helping advance our customers' research. IN THIS POSITION, YOU WILL Maintain a safe, clean, and efficient work environment Receive, inspect, and log lab specimens, handling all personally identifiable information with extreme care Perform cell and/or nuclei fixation following standard operating procedures Use techniques such as cell counting and electrophoresis to analyze in-process samples Prepare libraries for using Parse's split-pool combinatorial barcoding process Load prepared libraries onto next-generation sequencers Complete records and perform other required administrative duties following Good Documentation Practices (GDP) Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and adhere to Good Clinical Laboratory Practices (GCLP) as well as any other applicable standards that may apply to the role FOR THIS POSITION, WE LOOK FOR 3+ years of wet lab experience or a combination of wet lab experience and a relevant degree (2 years exp. + A.S. or 1 year exp. + B.S.) A keen attention to detail with strong organizational and prioritization skills Meticulous adherence to policies, procedures, and other instructions A demonstrated ability to perform common molecular biology or chemistry lab techniques Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to make in-scope decisions or, when necessary, escalations during time-sensitive tasks Must be able to work in a laboratory environment while wearing PPE consistent with the requirements of BSL-1, or, when applicable BSL-2 laboratories JOB CONDITIONS Wearing PPE consistent with the requirements of BSL-1 and/or BSL-2 laboratories Standing for extended periods, and occasionally carrying and/or lifting up to 30 pounds is required Core work hours are 9am to 5:30pm Pacific Time, some variance is acceptible depending on the situation Handling of biological specimens that may carry the risk of bloodborne pathogens and other potentially infectious materials Standing for extended periods, and occasionally carrying and/or lifting up to 30 pounds is required Repetitive motions using pipettes and other laboratory equipmentParse Biosciences is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer.
