Nature of Work
This is responsible work assisting the Marinas Supervisor or designee with the operations of the City's marinas and dockage facilities.
Work involves recording of transient dockage reservations, assigning berths or moorings to boat owners; recording of assignments; collecting established fees; preparing daily reports for the Marinas Supervisors, assisting in the inspection of the facilities; performing maintenance and repairs to marina facilities and equipment, and assisting in the enforcement of marina's rules and regulations. May be responsible for supervising clerical, maintenance and custodial staff in the absence of the Marinas Supervisor. Work may also include the operation of a boat to transport persons to and from a mooring area. Work assignments and general supervision will be provided by the Marinas Supervisor or designee. An employee in this class is expected to exercise some independent judgment in making some decisions within the limits of established policies.
Essential Functions
Assists the Marinas Supervisor in the assignment of berths and transient dockage reservations, execution of dockage agreements, preparation of reports, collection of dockage payments, and the proper entry and recording of customer information and dockage payments into the marinas computer system.
Meets arriving vessels and assists in vessel tie ups, berth assignments and related procedures.
Operates forklifts and other work vessels at the marina facility.
Operates a boat for the purpose of transporting persons to and from a mooring area and/or to perform maintenance and repairs to marina facilities and equipment, ensuring that all safety standards and safe boating procedures are followed.
Assists in the inspection of marina facilities in order to maintain the safety of equipment and facilities. Performs maintenance and repairs to marina facilities and equipment.
Provides weather reports and related conditions for boating in the area as required.
Assists in maintaining a log or record of yacht dock activity and operation.
Assists in the preparation of written reports and correspondence.
Performs additional clerical duties as required.
Performs other related work as required.
Minimum Requirements
REQUIREMENTS:
A high school diploma or its equivalent, and six (6) months of experience in marina operations to include public contact work. Working knowledge of office equipment, including personal computers and software applications, is desirable. Possession of the USCG Operator of Uninspected Passenger Vessel or "6-Pack" License, the USCG Operator of Uninspected Passenger Vessel Limited License (launch tender license), and/or successful completion of the USCG Auxiliary's Boating Skills and Seamanship (BS&S) course is highly desirable.

Equivalent combination of education and experience beyond high school diploma or its equivalentand six (6) months of the required experience.
SPECIAL NOTE:
Must be willing to work holidays, nights, evenings, and weekends, as required.
