Job Requirements / Description

Manage the day-to-day operational activities of the department(s) assigned. Manage the departmental budget, schedule, technical output, talent, talent development, and staffing levels, commensurate to the work forecasted, assuring proficiency in all aspects of the work effort. Provide estimates for the scheduled activity required to complete a project and assists in the preparation of the deliverables. Ensure the timely and efficient execution of scheduled activities. Advise management on technical risk, propose and carry out constructability improvements, produce deliverables to support the construction activities, and produce design deliverables for permitting activities. Enhance the Company's reputation via technical publications, industry committee participation, customer meetings, etc.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Manage the day-to-day operational activities of the department
  • Ensure successful execution for all projects.
  • Advise management and lead efforts in the design, specification, and review of technical documents required for the permitting and construction activities of substations, transmission lines, distribution lines, and energy storage facilities.
  • Participate in the development of the strategic business development plan and the yearly business strategy.
  • Plan, direct, and control the overall workload of the staff.
  • Provide estimates of the activities, schedule and resources required to complete a project.
  • Set guidelines for department functions that align with company objectives.
  • Provide resource management and staff development for the department including training planning.
  • Carry out performance reviews of the department employees and develop plans for their development
  • Support/Develop/Enhance Engineering Standards, ISO Procedures and technical understanding
  • Provide support to other departments
  • Schedule and conduct recurring department meetings
  • Provide technical advise, technical risk assessment and problem resolution in area of functional responsibility
  • Maintain and ensure department adherence to company quality, and ethical standards
Job Requirements / Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

Education:

BS in Engineering or related discipline.

Experience:

  • Minimum of eight (8) years experience in Engineering Management, Project Management, or Design team leadership, with some experience in functional area of responsibility.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience working with Utilities, IPPs, and/or EPCs.
  • Minimum of four (4) years working in the power delivery market.
  • Exposure to the renewable energy market is preferred.
  • PE preferred.
